Meryem Q.
Branch Manager
“I’m an engineer by training, with a background in industry and service; pure luck brought me to Societe Generale in 2004. I had been assigned to a project in Tangiers, but for family reasons needed urgently to return to Casablanca; the first offer I received was from SGMA.
From the moment of my recruitment, I began to appreciate a business which until then was totally unfamiliar. As a project manager, I played a part in a wide range of banking projects within diverse and rewarding areas of the business. My interest in banking began to grow, alongside my sense of belonging with Societe Generale. In the past I had spent some time in two other banks in the market, as a contractor, and found that Societe Generale Maroc was different, standing out by way of its internal organisation and excellent working environment.
After about six years with the Projects and Organisation Department, it was time for me to experience the bank from another angle: operations. I changed my role and am now the Manager of a large branch in Casablanca. A few months in, I can say that I am enjoying the role, finding it ever more fascinating. I hope to spend the rest of my career with the Bank, and perhaps to work in other divisions too.”
