Whether it is through financing motorways, supporting international exports, helping to hedge clients’ foreign exchange risks, advising on capital structure, looking at strategic acquisitions, tapping into the markets, or drawing up and implementing investment strategies, we support our clients in a wide range of sectors across the globe and offer them tailor-made solutions built on our global expertise in 3 areas:
Investment banking: providing clients with strategic advisory and capital raising solutions
SG CIB accompanies its clients in their strategic projects by offering global advisory services, notably in M&A and capital management, as well as tailor-made capital raising solutions. The bank essentially draws on its integrated approach and position as one of the leading players in the equity and debt capital markets.

Our market professionals integrated in a cross-asset platform provide seamless access to global markets across all asset classes (equity, fixed income & currencies, commodity and alternative investments - from cash to derivatives). We offer our clients advisory services and investment and risk management solutions that are both reliable and tailored to the specific needs of each investor. SG CIB is a global leader in equity derivatives and ranks among the top players in fixed income, commodities and research.
Global finance: integrated capital raising, structured financing and hedging solutions for issuers
SG CIB offers issuers integrated financing solutions that regroup equity and debt capital market access and its leading expertise in structured finance (acquisitions, export, natural resources, infrastructure & asset based, media & telecom, real estate & lodging…) which has won many international accolades over the years, as well as customised hedging services for interest rate and currency risk.
The performance and development of these three areas of expertise rely on a strong cooperation with Resource functions (Accounting & Finance, Operations, Information Technology , Operational Risk Management...) and Corporate functions (Human Resources, Communication...) which are involved in a lot of activities ranging from supporting sophisticated deals, selling new products, execution transactions to delivering services and long-term policies and process changes.
These teams play a key role in supporting our activities by ensuring quality, security and reliability. It is the result of an effective balance between accountability and innovation, people and compliance that make them real partners for our business lines.
We rely on a diversified community of international professionals sharing the same Group values: Professionalism, Team Spirit and Innovation, and business principles fostering a culture of responsibility.
As an employer, SG CIB has a team of some 12,000 employees in around 33 countries, consisting of over 95 nationalities with very varied professions and profiles, from senior bankers to HR specialists and market professionals, directly and indirectly serving our clients. We offer them diverse career opportunities, including internationally, and invest heavily in their training throughout their careers.
Société Générale's core strategy is to create lasting value for its shareholders, clients and staff. Yet this objective is only meaningful if it forms part of a broader policy designed to promote social development and environmental protection. SG CIB continues to be proactive in this area in response to growing stakeholders' expectations, focusing on 3 principal areas:
Sustainable Finance: we seek to take a ‘responsible’ stance in the way we carry out our corporate and investment banking activities. In September 2007, Société Générale officially announced the adoption of the Equator Principles, a voluntary set of guidelines developed for managing social and environmental issues relating specifically to project finance.
Towards Carbon Neutrality: we are also focused on reducing the direct impact our activities have on our environment, notably decreasing our carbon emissions through behaviour change and offsetting any emissions we are unable to reduce in that manner by purchasing emission rights. Our goal with this initiative is to reduce our carbon footprint to zero in the years to come and become a reference in the business.
Our Citizenship Programme: this programme aims to initiate a proactive dynamic of ‘community involvement’ at the SG CIB level, thereby supporting the Group's commitments in the area of professional and social inclusion, by combining corporate support to local communities and staff participation worldwide. Focusing on the common global theme of social inclusion via education, the Programme brings financial and human resources support as well as business expertise to partner charities.
As an example, through our partnership with the international humanitarian organisation CARE, we are accompanying four education projects over the next three years in Peru, Mali, Bangladesh and Morocco.
