Coverage and Investment Banking at SG CIB

For a bank, developing and managing strategic relationships with large corporate clients is essential for the success of its activities. At SG CIB, the Coverage Investment Banking division is responsible for this vital function.

The mission of the Coverage Investment Banking division is to establish long-term relationships with a clientele of top economic and financial decision-makers (CEOs, CFOs, treasurers, etc.). Its role is to promote and provide all the services and expertise of the bank, in particular investment banking solutions, to all its clients (corporates, financial institutions, sponsors and family offices). This division is also responsible for the assessment of credit risk for our clients and ensuring that transactions are made in their best interests.

Strategic advisory is key in developing relationships with our clients. Our support includes a wide range of solutions adapted to their specific needs:

  • Financial solutions (cash management, cash optimisation, vendor payments, payroll, etc.)
  • Investment solutions (financing, etc.)
  • Strategic solutions (mergers & acquisitions, asset sales, capital increases, IPOs, etc.)

Our investment banking offer includes strategic consulting and capital raising solutions (debt restructuring, bond issuance and structure of capital) which groups together our structuring and origination activities on debt and equity markets.

Sales support

Working closely with client relationship managers, you assist Coverage in its relationship with the SG CIB’s major clients and with the Societe Generale business lines that develop and provide products to your clients. You implement and monitor client operations, monitor their positions and manage the profitability of your portfolio.

Credit analyst

The credit analyst manages a clients portfolio dedicated to a business line or an economic sector. He produces credit files, monitors risks, and works with all business lines that have contact with clients of his portfolio. He can also handle credit files originating from overseas. As a credit analyst, you are an expert in financial analysis and a team player, with strong writing, briefing and analytical skills. You are able to challenge positions taken by the Coverage or the Risk department.

Client relationship manager

Your mission is to build and maintain relationships with a portfolio of clients, over the long term and while managing risk.
Your responsibilities include preparing credit decisions, monitoring positions and analysing the profitability of the business relationship. You have strong interpersonal and organisational skills, and work closely with all business lines.

Corporate finance analyst

The Corporate Finance department assists clients around the world with the strategic issues of mergers, acquisitions and equity capital markets. As an analyst, you will work in collaboration with other business lines of the bank as well as senior bankers, mainly to support the execution of transactions (capital raising, IPOs and equity-linked transactions). You are in charge of preparing client meetings and participating in the drafting of collateral for market updates, corporate financial analysis, public offerings and sales.
To be successful, you need strong analytical and critical thinking skills, and need to be highly independent and responsive.

KYC analyst

The Know Your Customer (KYC) department at SG CIB is one of the pillars of the system we have put in place to fight money laundering. It helps to ensure that we comply with our regulatory obligations and respects the ethical standards and procedures for monitoring client activities. As a KYC analyst, you are responsible for performing due diligence on the identity and reputation of customers, whether new or existing. You work independently from the front office and use the data provided by its teams to draft opinions and recommendations based on your analysis and risk assessment.
The ever-changing international norms and standards, and the vital role this department plays in preserving the reputation of the Bank, requires you to be both adaptable and meticulous, and be able step back from the details when needed.

M&A analyst

In collaboration with business managers, the M&A analyst is involved in advising mergers and acquisitions during the entire process (marketing presentations to clients, implementation of operations, financial and shareholder research, analysis of targets and/or potential buyers). You are meticulous and organised with strong analytical and briefing skills.
