Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

GLFI/AFG (JV with CORI) is responsible for the delivery of rating and acquisition finance-related services.

GLFI/AFG/SAF

GLFI/AFG/SAF is in charge of financing activities for strategic acquisitions (excluding financing activities for acquisitions on the Technologies-Media-Telecom sector) for "investment grade" and "non-investment grade” clients:

  1. Financing of strategic acquisitions for GBIS corporate clients, as well as certain major French groups covered by the Retail Banking Network in France, which are identified by name;
  2. Strategic analysis in terms of financing and optimisation of the client’s capital structure, with the other GBIS BLs;
  3. Strategic analysis in terms of financing of any requirement relating to a merger, demerger or any significant change to the client's scope of consolidation.

GLFI/AFG/ADV

GLFI/AFG/ADV is in charge of providing guidance to the Bank’s clients (whether corporate, financial institutions or sovereigns) on external ratings and on questions related to rating agencies’ methodologies, agency credit views and debt capacity benchmarking

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  1. To be involved in the origination and execution of acquisition finance and/or rating advisory mandates.
  2. To actively participate in the provision of integrated debt structuring/capital structure/rating advisory/acquisition finance solution to key clients of the bank and in the promotion of SG’s offer in loan and capital markets, in close connection with coverage and corporate finance.

  6. To be aware and compliant with the bank’s regulatory policies, including inter alia insider information management, Chinese walls, clear desk policies, personal investment policy, email classification, contact with investment research, gift and entertainment policy, use of disclaimers in pitches or documents.

Summary of responsibilities 

  1. In conjunction with CORI and other GBIS B/Ls and under the supervision of senior members of the team, to assist in the pitching of targeted clients in order to originate acquisition finance/rating advisory mandates, and to provide guidance on debt structuring/capital structure/debt raising/rating matters
  2. To assist in multi-products pitch and execution
  3. To deliver solid modeling/financing material
  4. To contribute to establish close cooperation between AFG and other GBIS B/Ls to provide clients with innovative financing/rating solutions and best execution
  5. To be able to identify some opportunities to cross-sell SG’s full product range

Origination and execution

  1. To produce and/or participate in the production of timely and accurate financial models, marketing material/pitches, credit/rating analyses
  2. To assist in carrying out due diligence when applicable
  3. To participate (when relevant) to the assessment of the feasibility of transactions/mandates, including underwriting and capital commitment, in light of available resources and profitability metrics
  4. To get acquainted with mandates, term sheets, legal documentation in conjunction with external/internal counsel (where applicable) produced and reviewed by senior member of the team
  5.  To assist in mandates/deals execution in a timely manner, in full compliance with SG’s internal procedures (and in close contact with closing/back office managers when applicable)
  6. To be aware of and ensure continued usage (under the supervision of a more senior member of the team) of the appropriate presentation, credit, rating, underwriting, legal documentation as per prevailing compliance standards, and to act responsibly within agreed credit risk limits
  7. To contribute to the compliance with all internal and regulatory procedures, including but not limited to compliance with Chinese walls, insider lists, conflict checks, management of confidential/insider information, KYC, MIFID (when relevant) and all related aspects
  8. To adequately contribute to the reporting to AFG management and COO of information related to ongoing transactions including permanent supervision, exposure management and escalate problems appropriately

Other responsibilities

  1. To contribute to develop and promote AFG and the acquisition finance/rating advisory franchise/products with clients and within SG
  2. To keep abreast of new market/sector/methodologies/products developments and leverage them with client and internally in the implementation of origination strategies

To be aware of operational risks and respect guidelines defined by the bank in order to prevent them, including meeting all internal compliance rules and compliance with SG’s code of conduct

WORK EXPERIENCE

Ideal past experience – Acquisition Finance, Leveraged Finance, High Yield, Credit analyst, Structured FInance

Strong accounting and finance background

Financial modeling skills (advantageous)

Credit analysis skills

Microsoft Office skills (including Word, Excel, Powerpoint)

EDUCATION

Minimum UK equivalent of 2:1 BSc Degree (Masters preferable)

Preferable to see professional exams

LANGUAGES

Fluent English

Other European languages (besides French) advantageous
