Responsibilities include providing primary SG Americas data protection program oversight from a

Compliance Department perspective generally and more specifically (without limitation):

  • Advising and assisting the SG Americas Data Management Office in establishing a regional data privacy strategy and compliance program for SG Americas
  • Advising the First Line of Defense on Data Privacy regulations applicable to Canada entities
  • Advising the First Line of Defense on the NY State DFS 500 Cybersecurity Program, as needed
  • Participating in the US Privacy Working Group and Steering Committee, as well as other governance forums, as Compliance subject matter expert
  • Participating in the review of Cyber Incidents and Data Leakage Incidents as Compliance representative, coordinating with other Compliance teams, as required, and determining client notification obligations
  • Coordinating with the Compliance Regulatory Change team, the Legal and Risk Departments to monitor regulations with an impact on data protection requirements
  • Managing the Compliance AMER Responsible Data Initiatives (“RDI”) risk assessment process, including coordinating RDI reviews with Compliance subject matter experts and drafting associated Compliance Risk Assessment memos
  • Revising relevant data protection related policies and procedures as applicable rules and regulations or firm practices change
  • Conducting training and drafting communications related to AMER regulatory requirements governing data protection, and
  • Participating in special projects in support of the larger Compliance Regulatory Oversight team.

Profile required


  • Understanding of data management and data protection principles applicable to the financial services sector (knowledge of the U.S. and Canada legal and regulatory environment, and rulemaking processes in these areas being a plus)
  • Ability to understand and communicate with subject matters experts and stakeholders with respect to data protection, and other U.S. and Canada legal and regulatory topics  
  • Strong interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and organizational skills
  • Great attention to detail
  • Capable of handling multiple ad-hoc requests.
  • Demonstrated history of taking initiative
  • Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with GRC systems
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Securities licenses a plus

Qualifications (Experience, Education, Languages):

  • Bachelors Degree
  • JD or other advanced degree a plus
  • 7+ years experience in Financial Services or related industry
