Responsibilities

Major Accountabilities/Principal responsibilities:
The global Natural Resources & Infrastructure Group within Societe Generale provides a full range of project finance and advisory services for producers, traders, processors and end-users of energy, metals and minerals as well as public sector through four key platforms: Energy; Mining, Metals and Industries; Trade and Commodity Finance; and Infrastructure.
The Mining, Metals and Industries business line is responsible for origination and implementation of advisory, structured corporate finance, and project finance to miners, metals producers, and players in downstream industries including recycling and EV batteries. The business line operates internationally with teams based in Europe, Asia Pacific (Hong Kong and Sydney) and the Americas.

The successful candidate will focus on:

  • Preparing, customising, optimising and maintaining the financial model supporting advisory mandates, including creating and running complex financial scenarios and sensitivities
  • Interrogating the financial model for lead arranger mandates including creating and running of sensitivities and checking integrity
  • Providing day to day transaction support including detailed financial analyses to other team members, with responsibility for functions in certain areas
  • Managing internal processes relating to all arranging and advisory business (e.g. updating databases, credit application writing, completing relevant internal system-based processes)
  • Preparing pitch material (including reviewing feasibility studies, detailed analysis of financial models, etc.)
  • Respecting all relevant compliance practices and other internal requirements in relation to the execution of advisory & lending transactions
  •  Staying abreast of developments in the mining, metals and industries sectors as well as current transactions and     
  •  opportunities in the market
  •  Starting to establish a network of contacts at key clients and prospective clients

Profile required

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge Required

  • Tertiary qualifications in Finance, Commerce, Engineering or Business Studies or related discipline
  • Post graduate qualifications considered favourably
  • One to two years’ experience in a similar or related role
  • Experience in a financial institution desirable
  • Strong numerical skills with a solid understanding of accounting concepts, financial statements and cashflows
  • Existing financial modelling skills will be considered favourably however support will be provided to the successful candidate
  • Strong ability in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, and Microsoft Office generally

  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to clearly explain complex financial issues

  • Consistency and rigour in following up on clients’ needs and act upon team’s priorities
  • Ability to work with people with diverse, international backgrounds, and act upon team’s priorities
