APAC Compliance Operational Risk Manager

Responsibilities

As a senior member of the  APAC Compliance COO team, you will be lead the monitoring of the operational risk for a team of 120 people. This role will primarily be split into the following core activities;

  • Monitor the operational incidents by helping operational teams and managers to collect and report incidents (operational or non-compliant) in dedicated tools, reviewing and performing critical analysis of Post-Mortem and action plans and following-up on their implementation. Implement a strong control tower and incident management process
  • Identify the relevant risk indicators and help monitor them
  • Perform and coordinate the annual Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA)
  • Monitor the outsourced / externalized services (OES) by contributing to assessing the operational risks linked to OES and contributing to ad-hoc oversight related project
  • Ensure a strong managerial supervision by reviewing with the managers the control framework in place and monitoring the results of the permanent supervision controls
  • Carry out operational processes review to assess their adequacy in terms of risks and control framework
  • Organize operational risk awareness sessions
  • Help push innovation, automation, and data usage within the team

The successful candidate will be equally comfortable with working at a granular level and discussing high level matters with the regional top management. Owing to the sensitive nature of topics managed, the utmost integrity and professionalism is expected.

The position will involve constant interaction with senior management, business lines, and various compliance and Operational teams.

Profile required

  • Master Degree: Business school or university in Banking / Finance, Economics or Risks
  • Banking or audit firm experience of 10-15 years
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English
  • Advanced level skills in Microsoft Office Suite and strong interest in new technologies 
  • Knowledge on operational risk (incidents, risk assessments, permanent controls)
  • Experience in tools such as PowerBI / Dashboard

Department Description

The Asia-Pacific Compliance division ("CPLE"), has a local presence in Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Singapore and Taiwan (~120 staff in total). Our primary focus is to support CIB activities (global capital markets & global structured finance).

Hong Kong is the regional Compliance hub; it is also the regional business hub. The Hong Kong Compliance team is approx. 40+ staff and split into 6 areas of expertise:

  • Advisory to Capital Markets Business Lines
  • Advisory to Global Investment Banking Business Lines
  • Capital Markets Surveillance 
  • Assessment, Monitoring & Testing
  • Financial Crime Unit
  • Central Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
  • Chief Operating Officer (COO)
