Responsibilities

Societe Generale opened its Canadian headquarters in Montreal in 1974 to offer its financial services to corporations, financial institutions and governments. The Toronto and Calgary offices were opened in 1978 and 2006 respectively.
We now employ over four hundred people, both in the traditional banking sector (investment banking, funds and trading activities) and in the field of information technology, with the opening of our SG Montreal Solutions Centre subsidiary which, thanks to its geographical location and its cultural diversity, provides computer support and development for the New York and Paris teams.

What are you applying for?

Our teams are ensuring that we deliver the service our businesses need to compete and serve Société Générale's clients. Our objective is to deliver great production services in a well-controlled, high quality and cost effective way, and to deliver competitive application systems that allow GBIS to grow its business in existing and new markets, launch new products and take advantage of new opportunities when they arise. Our team is growing and we are now looking for a DevOps Support Analyst to join us.

What will be your day-to-day?

  • You will be responsible for applications used by traders, sales and middle office on the trading floor.
  • You will be managing software releases, configuration and support of all production system components and infrastructure.
  • You will be supporting, developing and maintaining software applications, building systems, owning related processes and delivering frequent releases with high quality.
  • You will be developing applications to automate manual operational tasks as well as building custom real-time monitoring tools and reports.
  • You will have an opportunity to partner with global development and application support teams in New York, Chicago, Montreal, Paris, Sydney, London, Bangalore and Hong Kong. Work in follow-the-sun model.
  • You will bring a passion to stay on top of DevOps trends, experiment with and learn new CD technologies.

What we do differently at Société Générale
In addition to your day-to-day, you will get the opportunity to step up and take your technology expertise to the next level as at least 20% of your time will be dedicated to automation using Elasticsearch/Kibana, Scripting, Bots, Autosys, etc… 

Profile required

What does it take to get the job?
We've learned that when our support team understands the technology our products are built with, we provide better support. 
That's why we require our support team member to demonstrate a very basic level of coding ability. 
To qualify for the role, you must be able to write a SQL query and pass a basic Coding game challenge in whatever technology you are familiar with.  
In addition, it is a plus if you have:

  • At least 2 years of DevOps, Support or Developer experience across all stages (inception, analysis, design, implementation, runtime, maintenance and support).
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering or equivalent job experience 
  • Track record of delivering continual improvements & automations   
  • Programming background in scripting language (TCL, Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Comfortable working on UNIX / Linux (Shell Scripting, etc.) and Windows environments (Powershell, Batch, etc).
  • Experience working with relational and no-relational databases, good SQL skills.
  • Understanding of the Agile and Continuous delivery.
  • Good communication in English (French is an asset). 

Asset
•    Experience with one or more: 
o    Source control management systems (GIT)
o    Continuous integration (Jenkins, TeamCity, XLDeploy) 
•    Strong programming background in a structured, object-oriented language (C#, Java, etc.)
•    Deep understanding of the Agile and Continuous delivery (CI/CD, Jenkins, docker, kubernetes, etc)
