Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities of the Model Risk Governance Associate:

  • Contribute the management of the MRM framework
    • Maintenance and evolution of the normative documentation (policies, procedures…)
    • Regulatory watch (evolution of the applicable regulation and impact on the MRM framework)
    • Implementation of the framework (management of interactions with relevant stakeholders)
  • Contribute to the MRM governance and management reporting
    • Preparation and management of the Model Risk Management Committee
    • Preparation of the senior management reporting (ERC, MIS, RiskCo…)
    • Management of interactions with the MRM stakeholders (other risk stripe committees, ERM, 1lod…)
    • Management of internal audit and regulatory requests
  • Contribute to the Continuous Model Monitoring framework (CMM)
    • Set up of the organization and processes (interactions with the Validation team and 1LOD stakeholders)
    • Identification and implementation of the CMM metrics, definition of an aggregation approach
    • Analysis of CMM test results, identification of model risk issues and relevant remediation actions
    • Management of interactions with relevant stakeholders (Validation team, 1LOD)
    • Production of CMM reports and input to management reporting and MRM committees, escalation of issues to relevant stakeholders

  • A practical background on model risk management, gained on the field in a financial institution.

EDUCATION

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree

Required: English (Strong written and verbal) 


Business Insight

The SG Americas Model Risk Management (MRM) Unit is responsible for the Governance and Validation of the Models under the SG Americas Perimeter. Model Risk has become a fundamental piece in the Risk Management practice in the Industry since the issuance of the Federal Reserve Bank Guidelines for Model Risk Management, SR11-7. MRM is getting more and more visibility within the Bank as well, being considered a top priority in the Group and because the regulatory environment in the US is more stringent than in Europe, the function in Americas will be responsible to guide the rest of the Group in this endeavor.  


This position is part of the Model Governance team responsible for:

  • defining and maintaining the MRM framework in line the business needs, industry standards and regulatory expectations
  • providing effective support to the Validation team
  • providing a transversal view to our stakeholders on the effectiveness of the MRM framework and the Bank’s model risks
