About the position

The Global Business Service Unit (GBSU) department is responsible for back-office systems development globally, which supports front-office trading activity in North America, Europe, and Asia. Our group provides regulatory reporting: tools, engines, and other applications necessary for successful post-trade reporting.

Our team is designing, deploying and supporting the production tools and applications for the local credit & counterparty risks perimeter. The current role is based in Montreal and the resource will join a team of approximatively 5 members, all of them working closely with the extended AMER CCR team based in New York for a total of 10 collaborators.

As-Agent stream : Implementation of new counterparty metrics helping RISK officers to assess Société Générale’s exposure on “principals”. This project covering both tactical and strategic initiatives was established in 2019 as the result of concerns from US SEC that broker-dealers were unable to assess their exposure to the underlying principals (the beneficial owners) in agency lending transactions, but were instead only able to evaluate their exposure to the agent lender itself (already known via the existing CVAR metrics). Technically, the features are implemented into an in-house ETL and python scripts and results are visualized using PowerBI.

What will be your day-to-day?

In this context, you will oversee the following missions:

  • You will address requests raised by customers and manage them according to the priorities given by the Product Owner
  • You will collaborate with users and other business analysts to understand user needs and translate requirements into solutions
  • You will write functional specifications and document system and process workflows
  • You will ensure that the agile and continuous delivery methodology is followed
  • You will ensure that the feature are properly tested and that the artifacts are produced
  • You will coordinate and carry out the phases in the different environments and present the test results to users
  • You will collaborate closely with people in other locations (US, France, India)
  • You will be responsible for L3 support

Profile required

What does it take to get the job?

  • You have at least 2 years' experience as a business analyst (ideally in a financial institution)
  • You have experience in an IT department involving the coordination and implementation of development
  • You are comfortable managing multiple priorities, commitments and projects.
  • You have experience in creating and conducting training sessions (for IT or clients)
  • Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an asset
  • You are comfortable acting as the point of contact for business clients and to understand/document the needs of the company and their priorities
  • You have a strong desire to learn and contribute solutions and ideas to the team

The technical Skills:

  • Knowledge of SQL and ability to read and produce queries / stored procedures
  • Experience with PowerBI
  • Python / scripting development

The bonus skills:

  • Knowledge of US or international financial regulations
  • Experience with concepts and literature related to credit and counterparty risk
