Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

Kleinwort Hambros is the private banking and wealth management division of Societe Generale in the UK, Channel Islands and Gibraltar.

The Communications function of Kleinwort Hambros has the following broad objectives:

  • Promote and protect image and reputation of Kleinwort Hambros

  • Raise brand awareness

  • Enhance external and internal stakeholder engagement

  • Help grow target business areas

Key channels include employee engagement, media relations, website, social media and events and sponsorship

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Support internal communication

  • Internet and intranet maintenance and update

  • Support social media and website strategy

  • Support PR activity

  • Internal and external event logistics

Summary of Responsibilities

  • Internal and external event logistics

  • Liaise with internal event team, external suppliers such as designers, printers, external venues, monitor the budget for each event, invitations, liaise with Commercial teams to invite clients.

  • Co-ordinate corporate hospitality packages - in-house, bespoke, or externally

  • Organise events logistics for smaller events and offer support to other offices (invitations, branding etc)

  • Work with HR to host Exco breakfasts

  • Support front office teams: create invitations for team events, assist with corporate hospitality ticketing

  • Liaise with compliance, legal, front office, marketing and commercial teams across all Kleinwort Hambros offices on ad-hoc basis

  • Drive and co-ordinate awards strategy, including assembling material for submissions.

  • Source deliver and control branded material, welcome pack, diaries, greeting cards, etc

  • Proofreading and editing external and internal publications

  • Website and intranet maintenance and update

  • Support employee engagement programme

  • Some experience of media relations would be helpful

Level of Autonomy and Authority

The successful candidate must be a quick learner, showing independence, pro-activity and confidence to act without constant guidance on the day to day activities. Anything to do with budget, ordering items, product literature or booking events will be discussed with the Head of Communications.

Excellent communication skills at all levels, both written and oral are critical


Profile Required

Competencies

Education - University educated

Past Experience - Experience in Corporate Communications, Marketing, Media Relations or Journalism is critical

Languages - Fluent English.  French is useful but not necessary

Technical skills

·         Writing skills

·         Press relations skills

·         Design skills

·         Understanding and knowledge of business processes, standards, policies and procedures

Personal Attributes

·         Ability to develop good relationships at all levels, confidence in dealing with senior management

·         Enthusiastic, dynamic, innovative, approachable, team-player

·         Creative, proactive, adaptable, well organised, and keen to contribute new ideas

Work Experience

  • Work experience in the banking sector is ideal although not essential if communication and marketing were at the core of previous work experiences.

  • Must be fluent with Windows

  • Knowledge of Adobe 8 (Photoshop, Indesign) very useful

  • Social media awareness and knowledge is key

  • Languages: English as first language

Education

  • Graduates with a strong focus on communications and marketing, business studies

  • Banking knowledge not essential but a key advantage.

Languages

  • Fluent in English is essential
