ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT

Acting in compliance means understanding and observing the external and internal rules that govern our banking and financial activities including Know Your Customer, anti-money laundering, anti-terrorism financing, sanctions & embargoes, client protection, market integrity, anti-bribery & corruption, and data protection. The Compliance department ensures that Societe Generale’s non-compliance and reputation risks are controlled, while supporting the businesses in the development of new products or new activities. To enable the bank to operate at the highest compliance standards, Compliance acts as a second line of defense (ensure policies and controls implementation, monitoring activities, advising the business, assessing the risks, etc.) and spreads the compliance culture within the group.
