Société Générale Canada’s Compliance Department has a broad compliance mandate. This mandate encompasses AML, sanctions, surveillance, regulatory reporting, advisory, registrations, technical reviews, testing and monitoring, regulatory watch, project management, connectivity and more.
The Senior Project Manager will report to the Senior Compliance Manager and is expected to lead several projects aiming to enhance compliance processes with technology to meet various legal and regulatory requirements.


Day-to-Day Responsibilities: 
Primary responsibility includes driving all aspects of complex cross functional projects. The Project Manager must be comfortable building action plans from strategic requirements, challenging stakeholders on risk, plans and strategy, and adding value as an engaged member of the team.
Experience in financial services with a strong preference for Compliance related project implementation/management or key control implementation.
-    Act as Senior Project Manager for fast paced projects and continuously ensure their alignment to change and transformation goals
-    Manage assigned projects to ensure adherence to budget, schedule and scope of project
-    Lead/represent the project in project team meetings, governance forums and inter-department forums.
-    Develop, maintain and revise proposals for assigned projects including project objectives, technologies, systems, information specifications and timelines.
-    Build strong relationships with project stakeholders (locally, regionally and globally)
-    Build strong plans with appropriate level of detail to provide adequate transparency to all stakeholders and timely amend as needed
-    Take ownership of the project from inception to closure and ensure all project artifacts are completed.
-    Set and track project milestones; manage and account for unforeseen delays, and realign schedules and expectations as needed
-    Independently assess progress and risks and communicate clearly to all stakeholders (including Senior Management) on a timely basis
-    Monitor and report on project success metrics and progress.
-    Provide guidance to the project sponsor on the implementation and sustainment of projects, resulting in successful project outcomes.
-    Ensure change management plans are developed, socialized and consistently measured to deliver the expected project benefits and adoption.
-    Employ program processes, procedures, methods, and standards for program delivery; leverage these across the organization
-    Guarantee compliance with SG program management procedures and tools as needed.
-    Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

Technical Skills:
-    Technical proficiencies in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-    Knowledge of MS Project is a plus
-    Exemplary written and oral communication skills

-    Demonstrate ability to manage projects with significant technology components.
-    Understanding of overall risk and Compliance risk management in a financial firm
-    Strong ability to independently lead, direct work of others, and work in cross-functional teams
-    Ability to prioritize and work in a dynamic, deadline-focused environment
-    Excellent influencing, facilitation, and partnering skills
-    Experience interfacing with Senior Management
-    Individual should be analytical, flexible, team-oriented, have good interpersonal, communication, and follow-up skills with strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task
-    Ability to work collaboratively within a complex organization, across multiple cultures, geographies and disciplines
-    English and French is required (written and oral)

-    5 to 10 years’ experience in successfully managing/implementing complex projects 
-    At least 3 years’ experience in genuine Program Management during which one has successfully applied a structured approach (methodology) to the management, tracking, planning, monitoring and reporting of concurrent, multiple financial services projects

Educational Requirements:
-    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in financial services business.
-    PMP Cerfification a plus
