Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines a recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients.  GLBA platform is worldwide with expert teams across France and Europe, the CEEMEA region, the Americas and Asia, leveraging local client and regulatory insight within a global GLBA business framework to drive domestic, international and cross-border business, recognising the global nature of our clients

Industry Groups (IBD/IND)

Industry groups are sectorial teams which support investment banking business lines by:

providing strategic-level sector content into client dialogue to elevate the discussion with our client C-suite executives

identifying inorganic events that generate needs for the bank's IB services and helping position the bank accordingly

developing origination and cross-selling capabilities across GLBA business line

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • The position is based in London within the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure (PUI) industry team of the Investment Banking Division of the bank
  • The position is focused on Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sectors, and you will be involved in supporting the team in both the origination and execution of M&A and ECM deals across those various sub-sectors
  • You are also responsible for working across other teams in the bank as well as training and mentoring more junior team members

Summary of responsibilities

  • Assisting in the origination of Corporate Finance transactions across the PUI sector
  • Leading/assisting in the execution of Corporate Finance transactions across the PUI sector
  • Leading in the preparation and pitching of presentations for clients, investors and the broader investment community
  • Financial statement analysis and financial modelling
  • Company valuations mainly using market multiples, M&A multiples and the DCF method
  • Help develop transaction structures / structured solutions
  • Keep up to date about M&A, equity and debt related issues
  • Working with other country and products teams as required
  • Efficiently supervise junior colleagues (interns, analysts as appropriate) and owns responsibility of their work
  • Is able to coordinate multi-products pitch and execution
  • Is able to assist in the development of structured marketing plans
  • Has developed cross-product approach: is able to cooperate efficiently with other business line
  • Has strong command of English in an international deal-making environment
  • Strong involvement in origination, is commercially aware
  • Demonstrates autonomy in origination, from ideas generation to pitch delivery to client
  • Shows potential to be client interface at senior level
  • Has developed negotiation skills
  • Is impactful in written and oral communication, is able to convince clients
  • Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting in origination and execution of corporate finance deals across the power, utilities and infrastructure
  • Company and industry research, building up strong sector knowledge
  • Market screening, including Identification of potential acquisition, disposal targets or JVs
  • Financial modelling and valuation
  • Preparation and delivery of client and investor presentations
  • Mentor and develop Analyst class
  • Efficient coordination with other teams
  • Efficient supervision and training of interns
  • Respond to client enquiries and prepare supporting analyses
  • Keep up to date about M&A, equity and debt related topics in the industry.

Profile required

Experience / Competencies Required

  • Knowledge of the Power, Utilities & Infrastructure sector
  • Strong financial acumen with advanced modelling skills
  • Knowledge of and experience completing M&A or other Corporate Finance deals
  • Experience in data mining and information research
  • Ability to multi-task effectively
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel and PowerPoint) with track record in creating marketing materials
  • Accurate and reliable work production with rigorous attention to detail.
