You will be part of a CRE team composed by a Director (Head of Team) based in Houston, a Vice-president and an upcoming Associate. Both the VP and Associate are based in Montreal.

The Houston CRE team supports bankers (in GLBA team), primarily based in Houston, covering the Oil & Gas, Power, Renewables, Utilities and Chemical sectors.

You will gain exposure to other areas of the bank and will learn how various departments work within the Investment Banking function. Internal interactions will include business lines personnel (sales and marketing), petroleum engineers, legal department, operations, KYC and compliance officers, Risk officers and global CRE personnel.

You will be in charge of these responsibilities:

  • Performing financial analysis on the financial statements of clients
  • Writing credit applications for the renewal of credit limits, credit facilities and derivatives
  • Assessing risks on the clients and transactions
  • Supporting the execution and underwriting of credit facilities
  • Proposing Obligor Ratings in the internal tool and monitoring that all exposures always have a valid rating
  • Supporting bankers by providing financial and operational information about clients, when required
  • Reading and searching for reports on the sectors under coverage to expand her/his knowledge and update the team members on most relevant sectorial information/data.

Profile required


You are graduated with a Master Degree from Business/Engineering School, majoring Finance/Economics/Accounting.

You have a previous experience working in SG or another European Bank in credit or risk.

You are proficient in word, excel, Outlook and Powerpoint.

You have a good understanding of accounting and finance.

You are fluent in English.

A plus :

  • Knowledge of banking products
  • Knowledge of Spanish

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Houston is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 18 months.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
