Credit Solutions was recently formed, within the Client Solutions Group, to take ownership for the overall lending proposition and the strategic growth of the activity. The team has a mandate to improve the end-to-end delivery of the Credit products, encompassing Commercial (Credit Advisory), Risk (Credit Risk), Operations (Credit Administration) and any other stakeholders in the delivery (such as Legal, Compliance and Business Assurance). The objective is to ensure the sustainability of the credit proposition, in consideration of the Bank’s strategic objective and the competitive pressures.
Summary of the key purposes of the role
The role is to assist the Head of Banking and Credit Solutions in achieving the key objectives for the Credit business. These are:
To work with the appropriate stakeholders in the delivery of the Credit products in order to streamline the processes, with a view to increasing the speed of delivery whilst ensuring adequate control.
To direct initiatives that promote the Bank’s delivery on products that are aligned to the business and brand.
To support the Commercial team in their work to promote the lending offering and originate new business, with a view to promoting sustainable growth of the loan portfolio.
Summary of responsibilities
The responsibilities are as follows, with the continuous support and direction of the Head of Banking & Credit Solutions:
Review the policies, procedures and processes (manual or automated) across the Credit function, proposing developments to provide continuous progress toward the objectives stated above.
Engage with stakeholders across the Credit process, leading on the agreed developmental actions or projects related to the proposals made above.
Engage directly with live deals where there are blockages in the delivery – to seek resolution and identify further improvements to the process going forward.
Assist in managing the Credit systems, such as eCredapp, in terms of system functionality, development testing, user access and training.
Lead in the ownership of third party vendors, such as the Valuers Panel, to ensure delivery of an efficient service to the Credit function.
Support the main governance body for the Credit function, being the Credit Solutions Management Committee, by collecting management information and tracking actions.
Represent the Credit function, in place or in support of the Head of Banking & Credit Solutions, at relevant forums (e.g. New Product Committee, Private Banking Committee, etc).
Support the development of Credit Solutions as a centre of expertise for the overall Credit proposition, supporting in communications and training on the Credit product offering (e.g. Inductions, Commercial updates, presentations to Committees or forums, etc).
Attendance at Credit Solutions Management Committee and any other relevant Committee or meeting in the absence of Head of Banking and Credit Solutions.
Level of Autonomy and Authority
The role will have close interaction with the Head of Banking & Credit Solutions and operate within his mandate to achieve tangible enhancements to the Credit offering. As such, the role will come with a large amount of support from senior management and autonomy to deliver. The individual will be encouraged to use their initiative to propose solutions, which (with continuous access to and support from their line manager) they can follow through on to achieve the key objectives of the team.
