DIVISION DESCRIPTION

Independent from the Business Lines, the Risk and Compliance Departments Management (together the LOD2 Division) mission is to contribute to the development of the SG Group's activity by facilitating the Business Lines’ objectives while maintaining independent oversight, risk evaluation, challenge and monitoring. Our LOD2 team in the Montreal supports all the activities in the Americas Region (US, Canada and Latin America), which is almost exclusively corporate and investment banking oriented.

The COO team of our LOD2 Division is responsible for the Data management which is one of the critical functions aiming at managing the data that is used by Risk analyst/experts and management for quantitative analysis and decision making.

The COO team is looking to hire a Data Management Business Analyst to work along with our Risk and Compliance teams in the Americas region to ensure Data Management requirements are met. This person will liaise with Data Domain Onwers, Domain Data Stewards (DS) and a team of Data Steward Assistant (DSA) to manage our critical data elements and associated initiatives, and ensure adherence to our global and regional data governance policies and principles. The role will report to the Head of Data Management for LOD2 in the Americas (Risk and Compliance).

What will be your DAY-TO-DAY?

  • Ensure the adoption and maturing of data management capabilities for the RISQ and Compliance Departments in the region
  • Provide oversight to ensure domains are meeting their annual and quarterly requirements on CDE recertification
  • Ensure all recertification deliverables are completed and approved, including Business Metadata, Lineage, Data Quality Assessments and automating data quality rules in Informatica IDQ
  • Support data owners in Risk and Compliance perform root cause analysis on their data quality issues
  • Track remediation of data quality anomalies and issues with owners and ensure timely development of action plans and their completion
  • Serve as the expert in data management practices and ensure all data management standards are met for CDEs to ensure it is put under management
  • Guide the varying Risk and Compliance teams within the bank on how to approach data management standards
  • Responsible for raising awareness and knowledge among data sub-domains by coordinating and conducting periodic trainings on data management best practices
  • Ensure timely completion of Data Quality Scorecards
  • Responsible for productively challenging domains and ensuring feedback from domains are used to improve overall quality of critical data within the bank
  • Work in close collaboration with our team of Data Steward Assistant in Bangalore to deliver on our BAU activities
  • Oversee daily reporting which provide all relevant stakeholders with updates and progress made on CDE deliverables
  • Responsible for proactively monitoring and measuring the progress made by data sub-domains and identifying bottlenecks early in the cycle so that corrective measures can be taken to adhere to the overall timelines.
  • Seek opportunities to enhance our processes and increase efficiency as our scope of critical data and quality expectations grow
  • Manage periodic reporting of sustainability of the business as usual process
  • Preparation of supporting documents and reports for Management and Data Management Committees

Profile required

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

Must Have:

  • Domain knowledge and prior experience data management standards

  • Data management expertise in defining Metadata, Quality and Lineage for critical data elements

  • Experience with tools that are used in Data Analytics. (Advanced Excel, Power BI, SAS, VBA, SQL, Data Inventory and Governance tools)

  • Partner with business and technology to identify data flows and golden sources

  • Identify gaps in data flow of manual processes and controls

  • Manage collaboration with technology, operations, and other cross-organizational control functions

  • Attention to details and accuracy

  • Go-getter attitude

  • Partner with technology and digital transformation teams to enhance our tools and processes

  • Good understanding on the Banking Standards & regulations pertaining Banking Data (BCBS239)

  • Understanding of risk management practices in financial firms

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or U.S. equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5 years of professional experience working at a global financial institution performing and leading information technology and change management initiatives to enhance business processes and establish deliverables. 
  • Profession experience in financial services industry preferably in data management, change management or project management
  • Professional experience onboarding, monitoring, and managing Critical Data Elements (including Metadata, Lineage and Data Quality, and Scorecards) to prioritize, streamline, develop, and deliver priorities for data and risk management.
