The Data Management Officer is trained for the use of the data, helps ensure that the data is properly defined and used throughout the enterprise, implement policy and procedures and technical tools



  • Management of Data Governance flows and tools

  • Management of Data Quality topics

  • Track, monitor, and publish cross domain data quality scorecards/dashboards

  • Management of data referential

  • Enforce technical and business data standards and monitor compliance at the enterprise level

  • Perform complex data analysis to support data management decisions


  • Able to understand business requirements

  • Able to assess data changes for technology impacts

  • Able to balance business needs with IT capabilities

  • Knowledge of business rules used to populate data

  • Understanding of Data Governance processes and principles

  • Able to define and implement Data Quality

  • Credible within the business

  • Strong process viewpoint

  • Excellent root cause analysis skills

  • Effective communicator – able to present content and gain buy-in



  • Participate in identifying and proposing solutions to data governance topics, including data quality issues

  • Participate in identifying and proposing Data Governance solutions


  • Manage Data Governance tools, provide guidance for users

  • Referential Data functional administration (RDM)

  • Use quality and performance metric tracking tools

  • Use data querying and analysis tools

  • Support execution of Data Governance standards through technology

  • Data Quality Assessment

  • Report data quality metrics

  • Consolidate domain level data quality metrics for consumption at the Data Governance Organization (DGO) and Data Governance Committee (DGC) levels

  • Data Quality Continuous Improvement

  • Identify process improvement opportunities

  • Help implement corrective actions to resolve data quality problems

  • Track data quality objectives and plans at the enterprise level


•       Drive compliance to established standards and metrics

•       Communicate and enforce data policies, rules, and standards

•       Maintain the processes and procedures for Data Governance for the enterprise

•       Help create and drive implementation plans for the data policies, rules, and standards

•       Help ensure alignment of data quality activities to business and Data Governance strategies

•       Provide guidance to project teams around metrics requirements and tracking to monitor data quality efforts
