Department Description
SG’s Debt Capital Markets group has responsibility for advising issuers (corporates, financial institutions and public-sector entities) on their issuance strategy in the primary debt capital markets and executing the related transactions. SG’s strengths reside primarily in cross-border offerings in public or private format
Debt Capital Markets (DCM) Dept, Japan is responsible for addressing borrowers’ needs in terms of raising capital in the debt capital markets. The client base for the DCM team includes financial institutions, corporate borrowers, Sovereigns, supranational, and agencies in Japan. In addition, the team will cooperate with overseas DCM team to cover foreign issuers which relates to Japanese issuers.
In terms of debt origination, DCM’s activity covers issuance of bonds across the capital structure, including covered bonds, senior, subordinated, hybrid bonds both in public and private placement. The team also works on various DCM solutions including liability management, and green, social, and sustainable bonds where relevant.
Job Description and Main Responsibilities / Mission:
We are hiring a DCM Trainee whose primary function will be to support the senior staff from origination to execution/closing of transactions. The candidate should be highly motivated to develop their skills and be part of the expansion of Societe Generale’s Japan DCM business
Responsibilities include:
- Support the origination and execution of capital market transactions with target issuers in Japan
- Assist in the preparation of marketing documents (market update, peer analysis, secondary pricing performance, primary pricing indications, pitch book, and replying clients’ requests)
- Monitor primary market developments (recent transactions, pipeline, and announcements)
- Perform regular research on latest product developments and potential/existing business opportunities
- Help to execute deals, and help to make sure the deals are in line with company’s compliance rule / other regulations (both internal and external regulatory rules)
- Co-work with internal relevant teams both in Japan and overseas to make sure smooth business communication
Profile required
Qualifications / Certifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree and/or Master’s Degree in Economics, Business, Finance or related disciplines
- Be able to start working from April or May, 2023
- JSDA Class-1 Sales Representative (this can be updated upon joining)
Skills:
- Strong analytical and communication skills
- Good knowledge of fixed income markets and derivatives
- Native level in Japanese and Business (or Native) level in English
- Good command of Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Bloomberg would be a plus
