Responsibilities

Role:

  • To provide legal advice to the business line on bespoke structured derivative products, mostly on equity underlying, including bespoke indices. Candidates with good fixed income experience (especially credit) will be considered.
  • To provide legal advice on bond repacks, bespoke structured transactions and to handle associated documents.
  • To handle OTC documentation and Master agreements in general

Profile Required

Required Competencies:
  • A working knowledge of the ISDA documentation and associated projects (both Master agreements and definitions); a working knowledge of GMRA and GMSLA.
  • Analytical skills, and the ability to apply legal analysis to different fact patterns and in a cross-border context
  • Ability to pick up the interdependencies and interrelations between different parts composing a bespoke product.
  • Ability to manage complex product across a number of jurisdictions
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders, including external legal counsel, internal legal and compliance teams 
  • Numeric competency and an ability to understand the underlying economics and risk transference
  • Japanese law and/or Common law qualification – ideally both, but priority will be given to candidate with the strongest technical skills.
  • Minimum 3~ 7 years' professional experience, with at least a year as in-house legal at a foreign financial institution
  • Proven documentation drafting skills preferably in both Japanese and English
  • Inter -personal communication skills
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and achieve
  • Commercially focused/problem solver
  • Able to manage time and juggle competing priorities 
  • Discipline and professionalism: strong organizational, time management and prioritization skills; the ability to work under time pressure and manage deadlines
