Responsibilities

This banker will be responsible for generating new business within the targeted prospect/client Consumer market, while requiring strong knowledge of commercial banking and investment banking products/solutions.  They will need to develop a good understanding of Société Générale’s product areas, strengths, while being able to originate prospective business, and cross sell to existing clients.  The appropriate candidate will bring creativity to the task of pairing the client needs with the human and product resources of SG. The individual will be entrepreneurial, assertive, confident, self-directed, while also being a good fit with existing team members, and mature. As such, they will have the ability to gain the respect needed to interface effectively with all related product partners and team members. Furthermore, the individual’s presentation, communication skills, intellect and sales management style will be of key importance in the selection process for this hire.

The appropriate candidate will possess:

  • The commercial aptitude to support origination and cross selling efforts,
  • Existing experience in the Consumer industry and existing quality contacts,
  • The capacity to establish or develop client relationships. The ability to assess client needs, opportunities, problems, requirements and work with both team members and products partners to produce creative solutions, especially in a capital efficient manner
  • The product and technical expertise necessary to gain the trust and confidence of clients, product specialists, team members, and senior management
  • A willingness to cross-fertilize with the different business lines and divisions of the Bank to identify cross sell opportunities worldwide, and solve client needs with solutions from the SG product areas
  • The capacity to leverage the tremendous and focused global resources of the Bank
  • The ability to develop and implement any changes in terms of strategy, current and prospective client lists, and client service methodology required to improve performance and revenues
  • The ability to make a first level credit assessment of counterparty risks involved and pertinence of requests by the different business lines and divisions of the Bank
  • Ability to build out portfolio with other high-quality consumer/restaurant brands

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Required:

  • Wide knowledge of product set both across investment banking and commercial banking
  • Either strong credit skills or successful management of a corporate client portfolio in the United States, preferably in the investment grade Consumer sector
  • Commercial skills and/or aptitudes

Desired:

  • Experience in a US subsidiary of a foreign bank would be a plus

PRIOR WORK EXPERIENCE

Required:

  • 9  plus years of experience in the Bank and Broker/Dealer community

EDUCATION

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher education level of experience from a major business university

Desired:

  • Post graduate education or experience (i.e. MBA,CFA)
  • Series 7 / 79 and 63 preferred

Société Générale’s (SG) GLBA Coverage Group is looking to expand its scope within the Transportation, Automotive and McDonald’s industry sectors (TAM).  The GLBA TAM Coverage Chicago group is responsible for marketing the full range of the bank’s products to Fortune 500 companies in these three sectors.  The bank has a significant relationship with the McDonald’s System and is looking to broaden this relationship to include other strong investment grade and select Consumer industry companies. The desire is to add a Director level banker who is knowledgeable of the McDonald’s System, has managed a client portfolio and has existing company or consumer industry contacts to better accelerate the bank’s penetration into this industry.  The group covers three industries in the Chicago Office, this individual will be part of a team covering the Consumer industry, work with a Managing Director, and other team members (VP/Director, Associate, Analysts and others) to source new business opportunities within the Consumer sector.  This individual will work on an existing portfolio with the main responsibility to expand the scope and penetration in the Consumer sector by adding new business to existing clients and converting mostly investment grade prospects to clients.  Target companies include companies in the Consumer industry, mostly investment grade, have a high percentage of business in Europe and/or internationally, are doing business within the various 25 product areas Société Générale offers and can achieve overall targeted returns for the portfolio.  This position represents an expansion in the number of bankers in this group for SG.  The quality of existing contacts, teamwork, and the quality of the banker will be key to the right hire.
