Responsibilities

Base Salary Range: [$225,000 - $325,000] 
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.

Overview:

The Senior Appraisal Reviewer assists in the development and coordination of the corporate appraisal policy and appraisal review program for Société Générale to ensure compliance with all regulatory and internal requirements.  Guides all levels of management relative to the risk management of complex real estate collateral valuations.  Manages third-party appraisal and appraisal review firms in the review of commercial real estate appraisals for compliance with regulatory requirements and recommends actions to achieve compliance for unacceptable appraisal reports.  Keep management abreast of changes in the laws and regulations governing appraisal requirements.

Responsibilities:

The Senior Appraisal Reviewer will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:

  • Assists in the development, coordination and implementation of the corporate appraisal policy and appraisal review program for Société Générale to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Perform, and coordinates third-party appraisal reviews to ensure that the value conclusions are credible, accurate, well supported and that the reports are in compliance with all regulator and internal requirements.
  • Manage vendors to on-time delivery and quality product; and maintain the timely status of each assignment.
  • Resolve any appraisal issues that are not in compliance with Société Générale policies or conclusions that are not reasonable.
  • Objectively provide front office and risk managers with a balanced view of the risk associated with a given property, market, or property type.
  • Responsible for special projects assigned by management including economic trends and commercial real estate statistics.
  • Respond to outside regulator audit requests with regard to commercial lending and valuation practices.
  • Represent Société Générale through contact with business and trade professionals.
  • Assist in the development of appropriate ESG metric and strategy for real estate.

Profile required

Competencies:

  • Subject matter expert for commercial appraisal topics.
  • Must have a comprehensive understanding of all appraisal related regulations and policies including USPAP and FIRREA.
  • Proficiency in Argus, MS Excel and MS Office.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision in a structured environment.
  • Capable of being an effective decision maker.
  • Must be able work under pressure to manage tight deadlines and multi-task.
  • Sustain good relationships with internal clients and vendors.

Qualifications:

Education

  • Should have bachelor’s degree, advanced degree desired.

Experience

  • Minimum of 10+ years of appraisal development and review experience with at least five years in a lending institution.  
  • Have outstanding breadth and depth of commercial appraisal expertise that includes all major property types (office, retail, industrial, multifamily, hospitality) and special purpose properties (student housing, self-storage, data centers, life science properties, etc.).  
  • Must have a strong sense of the characteristics affecting value.

Certifications

  • MAI designation required.
