Responsibilities

Within SG Corporate & Investment Bank, you will join the Sustainable & Positive Impact Solutions department, whose mission is to advise business lines and external clients on environmental and social issues, structure Positive Impact financial products and brainstorm with clients on their adaption to new business models arising from the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and their financing.

Within the « Environmental and Social Advisory for Transactions” team, this position is dedicated to the Environmental and Social (E&S) evaluation of projects as well as supporting the sustainable and positive impact finance initiatives of the group’s Global Banking and Advisory division (GLBA). You will:

  • Provide advice to our commercial teams and external clients, on E&S questions during the appraisal and monitoring of financing transactions:
    • Identify and assess E&S risks and impacts associated with project-related lending and advisory transactions, relying on studies carried out and, occasionally, by going on site
    • Benchmark against relevant E&S international standards
    • Propose mitigation or management measures for these E&S issues
    • Participate in the definition of the E&S provisions to be included in legal documentation
    • Evaluate if the operations qualify as “Positive Impact Finance”
  • Contribute to the management of E&S information and E&S reporting
  • Assist with the improvement / update of assessment methodology, incl. for implementing the EU Taxonomy
  • Assist with the E&S training of GLBA staff
  • Assist in the development of the bank’s strategy in terms of E&S policies definition, alignment of its financing portfolio with climate commitments, development of Positive Impact Finance
  • Develop key relationships with business lines, Corporate Social Responsibility, Middle Office, Risks and Compliance department

Profile required

  • Degree/post graduate degree/practical experience in engineering, environmental or social sciences
  • 3-5+ years of experience in projects’ E&S analysis (impact assessment, due diligence, audit etc.), focused on high impact sectors such as mining, oil and gas, energy
  • Good understanding of international E&S standards such as Equator Principles, World Bank/IFC standards, and of climate risk
  • Experience, ideally “on the ground”, of E&S assessments in various geographical areas
  • Good knowledge of E&S products and commitments of the financial sector
  • Good knowledge of French and English, both written and spoken
  • Analytical skills, ability to synthesis or go into details
  • Ability to work independently or in teams
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Homework: Homework: 2 days per week
