Equity Margin Specialist

The successful candidate should be able to:

  • Be responsible for analyzing margin calculations for accuracy and ensuring accounts are correctly margined by regulation across all products, but especially with Reg T /OCC Portfolio Margin, market makers and JBO accounts
  • Understand SEC, Fed and FINRA rules surrounding margin; and liaise with compliance and/or exchanges for clarification
  • Run OCC Portfolio Margin Equity Reports each morning to assess exposure, observe margin violations and deficit balances.
  • Review day trading margin calls for regulatory compliance
  • Review Initial Margin calculations for accuracy, and investigate margin exceptions
  • Run Portfolio Margin positions on OCC’s Portfolio Margin calculator
  • Liaise with Client Services and other departments as necessary to issue margin calls and seek resolution of such calls
  • Participate in the review of new products with respect to margin regulations, including providing technical specifications and working with developers and other stakeholders
  • Make recommendations for improvement to processes
  • Assist in drafting and implementing margin-related procedures
  • Assist in responding to external and internal audits relating to margin issues
  • Have a basic understanding of futures margining, SPAN, CFTC and exchange rules surrounding futures margin

Profile required

  • 8+ years of margining experience with Equity & Equity Options
  • Required Technical Skills: Excel, Word.  GMI/Sungard and Shadow experience preferred.
  • Strong Communications skills and the ability to work with customers, counterparties, and sales front office 
  • Knowledge of Domestic and Foreign Stocks & Options, ADR receipts, ETF, Baskets and or Convertible Bonds, Fixed Income products
