Responsibilities

Société Générale Corporate and Investment Banking (SG CIB) has been offering financial solutions to Spanish corporates and investors since 1992. SG CIB now employs over 200 staff in Spain.

Within SGCIB, you will join as VIE our Global Banking and Advisory branch (GLBA). The VIE position is situated in Export Finance (GLBA/AFI/EXT), structure that has global responsibility for the origination, structuring and execution of financing for exports of capital goods and associated services & is responsible for the Group's relationship with export credit agencies (ECA) or worldwide public agencies supporting exports.

You will join the Madrid Export Finance team. You will have to perform the tasks of an Analyst and will work alongside the team to provide support to the senior originators.

You will be responsible for assisting the Head of Export Finance Spain and his team in ensuring the commercial coverage of the Export Finance business unit throughout Spain.

This will include:

  • Drafting credit applications
  • Preparation of commercial presentations and internal reports
  • Participation in the drafting of offers, term sheets, letters…
  • Participating in the review of legal documentation in collaboration with external lawyers
  • Following up Spanish export financing operations and research in the export sector
  • Follow up the profitability of relationships
  • Interaction with CESCE, the Spanish export credit agency

As a VIE, you will have exposure to the senior originators in charge of Export Finance.

After a year or two in this role, you will be able to understand the structure of export financing and the type of products and structures that the bank delivers in this business unit.

This all will open the door for you to pursue a career in banking or even enter a wide range of businesses.

Profile required

  • Graduate from Business School/ Ecole de Commerce
  • You are fluent in English and Spanish
  • You are proficient with Microsoft Office
  • A first experience in investment banking export finance department would be desirable

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Madrid is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
