Description of the Business Line or Department

Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines a recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients.  GLBA platform is worldwide with expert teams across France and Europe, the CEEMEA region, the Americas and Asia, leveraging local client and regulatory insight within a global GLBA business framework to drive domestic, international and cross-border business, recognising the global nature of our clients

GLBA FIG offers financial institution clients the whole range of services offered by SG CIB and the Group, with a particular focus on investment banking, commercial banking and global markets activities. GLBA FIG  provides tailor-made solutions to, financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, stock exchanges and market infrastructure companies, asset & wealth managers,  pension funds, sovereigns, supra-national institutions, generally financially regulated entities as well as financial sponsors.

The mission of the M&A team is to help the Group's major clients with their strategic analysis and advise them on M&A transactions. The FIG M&A team originates transactions globally, and works closely with Senior Bankers and with the Group's other business lines as soon as their products are involved in the transaction under consideration.  FIG M&A offers financial advice according to client situations and needs: merger, acquisition, sale, spin-off, JV, etc.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Ideal opportunity for a Associate/ Vice President to join an established FIG Corporate Finance franchise within a leading European Bank
  • The candidate will receive a well rounded perspective of the development of global financial services in this position, and an opportunity to advise strategic FI clients of one of the European leading banks
  • The position will be based in London within the FIG Corpotrate Finance team
  • The candidate will be focusing on serving strategic and Financial Sponsors ckients, and will be involved in execution as well as origination of new mandates

Summary of responsibilities

  • Assist in the origination of  transactions across the FIG sector
  • Lead/assist in the execution of transactions across the FIG sector (banks, insurance, and specfin)
  • Lead in the preparation and pitching of presentations for clients, investors and the broader investment community
    • Financial statement analysis and financial modelling
    • Company valuations mainly using market multiples, M&A multiples, DDM / DCF and LBO models
  • Help develop transaction structures and processes / valuations of the targets
  • Identify relevant buyers and transaction rational
  • Work in a seamless manner on M&A as well as ECM and acquisition finance  topics with relevant teams. Is able to coordinate multi-products pitch and execution
  • Work with other country (in particular France) and products teams across the Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) division as required
  • Efficiently supervise junior colleagues (interns, analysts as appropriate) and owns responsibility of their work
  • Is able to assist in the development of structured marketing plans
  • Has to develop cross-product approach and is able to cooperate efficiently with other business lines
  • Has strong command of English in an international deal-making environment
  • Has strong involvement in origination, is commercially aware
  • Demonstrates autonomy in origination, from ideas generation to pitch delivery to client
  • Shows potential to become a client interface at senior level
  • Demonstrate strong analytical, and team leadership skills, able to supervise and coach and teach more junior resources
  • Is impactful in written and oral communication, is able to convince clients
  • Respects all rules to protect firm’s and client’s interests
  • Assists Directors and Managing Directors in developing origination strategies for identified target customers. Elaborates marketing pitches on M&A, ECM or acquisitions finance situations
  • Assists Directors and Managing Directors in executing M&A, ECM or acquisition finance transactions as required

  • Must be able to work independently on defined tasks
  • No autonomies to commit the firm

Profile required


  • Fully fluent spoken and written proficiency in English. Additional European and CEEMEA languages a plus
  • Has advanced accounting knowledge, legal knowledge, market rules/listing rules knowledge
  • Has advanced valuation knowledge: is able to handle on his own a full valuation report with different methodologies
  • Has good to advanced modeling skills (complex structuring modeling, advanced business plan modelisation or Convertible Bond EPS Dilution / Right Issues modelling)
  • Has strong to excellent knowledge of Corporate Finance concepts and products (M&A, ECM, STG…)
  • Has solid FIG sector knowledge (industry trends and local specificities)
  • Has excellent command of Office tools and relevant databases
  • Has strong command of English in an international deal-making environment
  • Is reliable, achieves results within objectives has strong commitment to deadlines (internal and external) and shows ability to drive analysts/ interns to meet such constraints
  • Has drafting skills on marketing presentations, legal and process documentations, client presentations
  • Has strong written and oral communication skills
