Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The IT infrastructures department, RESG/GTS (Global Technology Services), is at the centre of the transformation of Société Générale’s operating model. Thanks to RESG/GTS, the Group boasts one of the biggest shared service centres for IT infrastructures in the financial sector.

The position will be part of the GTS Finance team which sits within the GTS IT Risk & Oversight Team. GTS Finance oversees the review of costs, forecast preparation, providing guidance to GTS management, liaising with the DFIN teams in Paris and London, and GBSU London. There will also be extensive liaison with our PMO team on CTB projects.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

The trainee will cover 3 activities for the GTS department:

  1. Month end analysis: Review of month on month cost movement
  2. Local Management reporting: Preparation of GTS flash reports, assist in preparation of bi-monthly forecasts, ad-hoc queries
  3. Paris Management reporting: assist in preparation of annual budget, ad-hoc queries

Summary of responsibilities

Month End Analysis:

  • Ensure accurate cost accounting, including accruals and corrections, by monitoring the monthly CRM process
  • Liaise with DFIN London and Bangalore to obtain latest month end costs
  • Review month on month movement, obtaining explanations for significant variances for flash cost reporting
  • Prepare month end journals, liaising with local DFIN for posting to general ledger

Local Management Reporting:

  • Prepare and present internal CTO flash report providing an in-depth analysis of performance against forecast & budget
  • Prepare and present individual team flash reports providing an in-depth analysis of performance against forecast & budget
  • Assisting senior management accountant in the bi-monthly forecast exercise, liaising with internal managers on future anticipated spend
  • Review of external vendor spend, informing local management of any variance to forecast and budget
  • Assist local management with any ad-hoc finance queries
  • Answering any ad-hoc queries in management accountant’s absence

Paris Management Reporting:

  • Assist senior management accountant in the preparation of the annual budget
  • Attend meetings with local management to ascertain budget vendor cost requirements
  • Preparation and presentation of ‘budget bridge’ reports for CTO review
  • Answering any ad-hoc queries in management accountant’s absence
