Description of the Business Line or Department

The Global and Integrated Finance Division (‘DFIN’) department’s aim is to add value to the Group and its business lines' development.  DFIN provides a key contribution to the Group value creation, through our activities of strategic advisory, steering, data production and certification.  We are engaged in all dimensions of performance evaluation across the Group and provide a transversal and objective vision to support informed decision-making for the management and development of the Group and its business lines.

-          Organise an agile adaptation to strategic and regulatory challenges;

-          Ensure the security and reliability of financial information through operational excellence;

-          General management, pillars, business lines and corporate functions, regulators, auditors, markets and investors;

-          Performance assessed with operational indicators and financial information;

-          From strategic analysis to decision-making and execution monitoring;

Societe Generale International Ltd (‘SGIL’) is a UK based MiFID Investment Firm authorised and regulated by the FCA and is designated as a non-SNI under FCA IFPR.

The SGIL Finance Division is in charge of:

-          Steering the financial and budgetary strategy of SGIL, and its investment and development policy;

-          Measuring and analysing the profitability of the activities portfolio (clients, businesses, geographies) and the use of all resources (overheads, balance sheet, capital, liquidity, etc.);

-          Certifying SGIL accounts (accounting quality, valuation methods, orders options, etc., regardless of the production centres, vis-à-vis DFIN, external auditors, regulators, etc.;

-          Ensuring the necessary support and the right level of expertise on the subjects of accounting standards, taxation, scarce resources and regulation;

-          Managing SGIL scare resources (liquidity and capital).

  The SGIL Finance Governance and Controls Officer position reports directly to SGIL Chief Financial Officer with a functional report to DFIN UK COO.

 

Summary of the key purposes of the role

·         Support the CFO to ensure senior manager responsibilities are being met and documented, including compiling the evidence pack, handover documents, attestations and reporting to the SGIL Board.

 

·         Responsible for assessment and monitoring of the SGIL DFIN governance to ensure it is in line with regulatory expectations and the framework is robust and well documented. This role would be responsible for ensuring the governance requirements and deliverables of the DFIN team are met in the temporary absence of the SGIL CFO.

 

·         Lead on SGIL DFIN contribution to regulatory requirements covering topics of the Recovery and Resolution, Critical Functions Review, Single Resolution Board reporting and business continuity.

·         Coordination and challenge of the Operational Risk Management for DFIN through the annual Risk and Control Self-assessment process and monitoring of operational risk incidents.

·         Oversee DFIN offshore and onshore services provided to SGIL DFIN

 

·         Prepare ad hoc presentations based SGIL financial topics as they arise

·         Support SGIL CFO in the day-to-day DFIN operations

 

Summary of responsibilities

·         Providing support to the UK CFO on all matters related to meeting the requirements under the senior Manager regime. This will cover ensuring the governance framework is appropriate for these requirements as well as compiling the evidence pack, handover documents and attestations.

·         Responsible for assessing and monitoring the SGIL DFIN governance to ensure the governance framework is robust and well documented. Implement enhancements as appropriate. This role would be responsible for ensuring the governance requirements and deliverables of the DFIN team are met in the temporary absence of the SGIL CFO.

·         Support the SGIL CFO in SGIL Board reporting requirements are met to a high quality and within required timeframes and adhoc presentations on key financial topics as they arise.

·         Co-ordinate Recovery and Resolution, Critical Functions Reporting & Single Resolution Board reporting for group reporting, Booking Model and ad hoc requests from SG Paris

·         Co-ordinate the business continuity plan and RCSA for SGIL DFIN

·         Co-ordination and challenge of the Operational Risk Management for DFIN across the team and challenge of the  operational risk management of DFIN through the annual risk and control self assessment and monitoring of operational incidents.

·         Attend SGIL governance and operational committees – provide & collect relevant information for DFIN & report any significant risks

·         Responsible for submission of Office of National Statistics questionnaires

·         Oversee governance of DFIN offshore services to SGIL, co-ordination of monthly meetings to ensure adequate governance & KPI reviews are met with relevant stakeholders within DFIN

·         Ensure all Client Service Level Agreements are up to date and reflective of the services covered.

·         Responsible providing support and guidance for operational processes & management initiatives and support projects in SGIL DFIN as required.

·         Work with other COOs across UK DFIN to ensure sharing of ideas and best practices are being followed.

·         Support SGIL CFO in ad hoc day-to-day DFIN operations

Profile required

Competencies 

 

ACADEMC BACKGROUND: Engineer degree, Bsc/Ba, Msc/ Ma, MBA, CPA/CA, CFA, FRM would be a plus.

Minimum of 10 years experience.

 

TECHNICAL SKILLS: Office pack , Internal IT architecture (FO to Accounting) understanding, Project Management skills would be a plus.

Functional background expected on one of the following areas: Accounting, Regulatory Reporting processes, Liquidity and Scarce Resources Management, Product Control, Market, Credit Risk,

 

SOFT SKILLS: Team player, approachable, experience in developing/coaching team members

Demonstrate a strong Client orientation while being an active and positive representative of Finance

Ability to analyze//handle complex issues (strong analytical sense) & propose effective solutions

Ability to quickly give a synthetic overview (good oral & written communication) & communicate with top management

Ability to drive the change, to influence without authority, Adaptability, Autonomy, Innovative
