Société Générale Securities Services (SGSS) is part of Global Banking & Investor Solutions (GBIS), a key pillar of Société Générale’s universal banking enterprise. It is among the top ten global custodians, and the 2nd largest in Europe, employing over 4,000 staff in 28 locations.

SGSS has been active in Ireland for 20 years and is a leading player in servicing Irish domiciled and offshore collective investment vehicles. We act as depositary for a wide range of international clients who manage UCITS, Alternative Investment Funds including private equity and real estate structures, hedge funds and special purpose investment vehicles. We can offer a full suite of Fund Administration and Transfer Agency Services through our sister company.

Our primary objective is to assist our clients achieve their investment objectives supported through our local and global custody service divisions.

The Finance department (DFIN) within SGSS Ireland, plays a fundamental role in financial planning, managing cash flow, producing financial statements and regulatory reports, and financial communications.

Summary of the key purposes of the role - Summary of the key objectives and primary goals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare general ledger entries and document business transactions.
  • Prepare monthly closing pack to include monthly financial statements, reconciliation files and variance analysis and commentary.
  • Communicate financial reporting information both internally to head office and externally to the central bank before respective deadlines.
  • Monitoring intercompany invoicing and aged debtors.
  • Process timely VAT information.
  • Preparation and filling tax computation.
  • Analyze and review budgets, revenue and expenditure trends, and ensure expenditure control.
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain financial data bases, computer software systems and manual filing systems (Dynamics, Management Reporter, Figaro) 
  • Interact with internal and external auditors in completing audits.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Level of Autonomy and Authority

The successful candidate is expected to be able to operate on their own initiative however they will be fully supported in every aspect of their assigned tasks and responsibilities.

Profile required

Competencies

  • Excellent numeric and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Good proficiency in Microsoft Excel. (VBA is an advantage).
  • A high level of fluency in the English language.
  • Good time management & organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping and cost control principles.
  • Familiarity with financial and accounting software applications. (Dynamics is an advantage)
  • The ability to communicate articulately and efficiently with other people within the company.
  • Desire to learn new skills with a continuous improvement attitude.
  • Be self-motivated with a structured and determined approach to work and show a willingness to take ownership of problems and an ability to communicate with clients and colleagues at all levels.

WORK EXPERIENCE

  • 2-4 years’ experience of working in an accounting position.
  • Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including Financial Reporting Standards.
  • Ability to analyse financial and statistical data and prepare financial reports, statements and projections.
  • Knowledge of financial and accounting software applications.
  • Knowledge of statutory regulations.

EDUCATION

  • Degree required – preferred business/accounting/finance concentration.
  • Part-qualified accountant pursuing their accountancy qualification.

LANGUAGES

  • Fluent English, proficient in both written and oral communication.
