Financial Management Support Specialist

This role will require organization and management of priorities and tasks as efficiently as possible to provide high quality treatment with respect to operational expenditures and cost monitoring. They will also ensure that the team contributes to customer service quality, and reduction of costs & process enhancements.

Financial Management

  • Provide transparent communication regarding issues and progress to management, raising relevant alerts and proposing solutions, especially:
    • Review and improvement of any identified inefficient processes
    • Contribution to the yearly budget exercise
    • Provide financial transparency for allocations
  • Budget preparation and forecast review
    • Explain variances to the budget and trends, understand the nature of costs, and challenge expenses internally
    • Generate finance / budget reports and updates for various business units
    • Efficient communication and partnership with COOs and Division heads
  • Manage relationship with Global counterparts
    • Review with global counterparts on GBSU budget and forecast at sub-business unit level
  • Performance reporting / presentations for senior management:
  • Review Business Cases: Financial KPI, Daily Rate, Forecasting, project envelops, Invoices, Accruals etc.
  • Coordinate collection of information to prepare ad hoc presentations for senior management
  • Presentation preparation: punctually prepare PowerPoint presentations on behalf of the COO Chief of Staff
  • Enhance reporting platform to efficiently and consistently deliver key messages and indicators across all of COO Pilotage activities
  • Daily oversight of automated data processes and reports from vendors, including follow-up with vendors(s) if data/reporting fails or is missing
  • Monthly oversight and monitoring of DFIN related services
  • Involved in transversal projects that support GBSU Strategic objectives

Experience Needed:

  • 2+ yrs relevant experience in financial budget and forecast analysis particularly on expenses
  • Presentations and interactions with senior management
  • Experience working in an international environment, matrixed organization a plus

Educational Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Business, Finance, Economics or equivalent.

Languages: (Other than English)

  • Knowledge of French language is a plus 

Business Insight

Société Générale’s COO Pilotage team closely supports the Americas Global Business Service Unit(GBSU) and its Executive Committee in coordinating and managing the day-to-day operations of the COO office. Its catalogue of activities includes coordination of the budgeting process, monitoring and reporting on Strategic initiatives, IT / Travel costs, regional OPEX policies ownership etc.

In conjunction with the Head of COO Pilotage in the Americas, we ensure that team strategy and objectives are delivered, with a focus on client services and efficiency. We also contribute to organizational / cross-functional / span of control projects.

This function also has the responsibility for coordinating with other GBSU sub-business units (including Equity Derivatives, Finance, Risk & Market Data, Client Lifecycle & Digital, etc.) as well as the CIO and Chiefs of Staff to ensure that the most appropriate levels of COO services are provided to meet current and future GBSU management needs.
