Société Générale’s internal control is based on Permanent control (1st & 2nd Level) and Internal Audit that are separate and independent from each other while being complementary.

The Second Level Permanent Control is a transversal role covering Control Testing/Reviews for SG Investment Banking Business Lines which are linked to SG entities across the Americas. The individual will be part of the Second Level Permanent Team that independently reviews and challenges Finance processes operated by Finance, Risk and other support divisions.

The Financial Supervision Control team (“CTL”) is responsible of monitoring the effectiveness of the accounting and financial control framework which aims at ensuring the quality and accuracy of SOCIETE GENERALE’s financial statements.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform all aspects of finance level 2 control reviews:(identification of financial risk areas, walkthroughs, testing execution, communication and follow-up of improvement areas)
  • Propose improvements to the financial control framework which includes accounting, management reporting, liquidity, treasury processes
  • Monitor on the applicable perimeter, the evolution of the risks, the regulation (e.g. Basel Committee for Banking Supervision, Financial Stability Board, Federal Reserve Bank etc.) changes and the projects
  • Have a high degree of accounting, financial and regulatory knowledge as well as project management skills to meet the team's objectives
  • Engage in equal footing with the first control teams to independently identify, measure, control and report aggregate risks
  • Stay abreast of industry trends/developments to determine their impacts on SG's scarce resources, liquidity management and regulatory framework
  • Prepare KPIs and perform/document various coordination within the team, and produce key deliverables directly distributed outside of the team.
  • Promote technological improvements to the level 2 control function by automating workflows using business intelligence tools (Alteryx, Knime, PowerBI, Spotfire, etc.)

Profile required


  • Challenging and analytical skills in order to be able to give an independent and relevant opinion on the control framework or the correct application of regulations on liquidity and capital requirements.

• Ability to perform a rigorous analysis of the Level 1 control framework.

• Ability to understand Banking & Investment business lines and able to challenge the processes with a continuous improvement mindset.

• Strong audit skills and accounting skills

• Communication skills: ability to interact with a wide range of staff (all staff levels & management)

• Openness, appetite for teamwork

Professional requirement

  • Knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, regulations for a financial institution.
  • Good knowledge of audit techniques (risk approach, substantive testing, high view analysis…)
  • Good Knowledge on Financial market and investment products
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Good organization and documentation skills


Approximately 1-3 years of experience working in the financial sector in a similar capacity.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field
  • Advanced degree a plus or a CPA a plus
