Since data is recognized as a strategic asset for the bank, it is now a major challenge for the Société Générale group. 
GBSU/FRM/MRF (Market Data ReFerentials) department is responsible for global trading room data for Société Générale. As such, it is in charge of creating the Market Data environment, and having it evaluated in permanent interaction with the Trading, Risk and IT managers, who need it in their functions.
Innovation and continuous improvement are major challenges within the team to meet the needs around cost control and the development of the uses of this data.
As an apprentice Market Data engineer, you will join the department responsible for the management, provision and control of market parameters for all financial instruments. These data are recognized as a strategic asset and are at the heart of the smooth running of the processes for all the players in the bank

During your VIE mission you will be in charge of these responsibilities :

Data Lineage :

  • Understand market data and know the information system that produces and consumes it.
  • Define and know the source, location, quality, and associated acquisition and distribution methods.
  • Know and define use cases and work to develop/promote them.
  • Securing the Market Data environment and understanding its risks.

Data Quality :

  • Ensure the creation of products in our referential databases in accordance with official sources and current processes.
  • Define and deploy standard data control plans.
  • Organize the process of setting quality objectives and intervention thresholds for the most critical market data.
  • Participate in the implementation of new processes and their deployment.
  • Participate in the design and sharing of tools (tactics or targets) to ensure these security controls in a process of continuous improvement.
  • Be in a continuous process of remediation and optimization of the process by proposing technical and strategic solutions
  • Act as point of contact for HK, NY and Paris reference data production issues.

Data governance :

  • •Analyze the causes of observed defects or data quality problems and identify ways to correct them in conjunction with the Business Analysts concerned.
  • Manage reporting of the state of health of data repositories to management.
  • Facilitate the work of prioritizing anomalies and remediation plans as well as their proper implementation.

Profile required

Profile

  • You are preparing a Bac+4/5 in Engineering or University with a specialization in Finance.
  • You have good knowledge of financial products,
  • You are autonomous, curious, able to anticipate and identify risk areas,
  • You're fluent in English
  • You're good in Angular, DB and Python

The VIE assignment in a nutshell

This VIE in Montreal is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
