Description of the Business Line or Department

Within the Fund Services Operations Divison, Fund Administration and Fund Administration Support(SGSS/FSO/FVS) is in charge of the accounting and valuation of collective investment schemes (UCIs or funds) and fund portfolios.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Reporting to the Head of Operations, will be that of a specialist to assist the valuation team, in specialist topics as may arise. This job description is intended to be as specific as possible but it is important to recognise that due to the nature of the activity, changing client requirements and the size of our operation, roles and responsibilities can vary and change on a temporary and sometimes permanent basis. Flexibility is a key requirement for all staff.

Summary of responsibilities 

  • Work with Head of FVS on standardisation and implementation of best practice.
  • Work with the Business Requirement Specialist on defining business requirements.
  • Work with the CTS and Fund Accounting teams to assist in on-boarding of new clients.
  • Be the key contact for Fund Accounting team for key / complex topics.
  • Assist the Fund Accounting Supervisors on improvements to the process as required.
  • Identify and assess risks within the business. Identify solutions to reduce or remove the risk.
  • Development and implementation of processes and procedures.
  • Assist in training of other team members on new processes or complex topics.
  • Assist in the further development of fund accounting process to meet client needs or requirements.
  • Be proactive in identifying potential client issues.
  • Ability to work as a lead or assist on projects.
  • User acceptance testing or Business Analysis within funds environment.
  • Prepare product demonstrations, proof of concepts and development roadmaps to internal teams.

Profile required

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities and Competencies

  • 5-6 years’ experience in fund accounting.
  • Degree required – preferred business/accounting/finance concentration.
  • Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills necessary.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Good IT skills, knowledge of SQL, VBA an advantage.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage multi-functional projects effectively.
  • Very good listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience of project management desired.
  • Strong technical knowledge of a wide range of asset classes and sophisticated strategies.
  • A thorough knowledge of performance fee methodologies (Hurdles, Waterfall, Equalisation, Series, etc).
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills.
