Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

Global Loan Sales sits within Global Syndicate (also JV with Asset Backed Products) and its main three functions are distributing primary loans (senior and junior) across all areas of SG origination activity, supporting portfolio management exercises through selling (and buying) assets to/from market counterparts and supporting the ABP loan trading business. The team covers a wide range of bank and institutional accounts and is fully connected across its global platform principally based in London, Hong Kong, New York and Tokyo.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

  • Supporting senior loan sales personnel across all parts of their activity – this includes ensuring KYC and trading limits are in place for secondary activity, backing up colleagues as necessary on all parts of their primary market deals during distribution phase and liaising with SYN and other internal colleagues for on-going reporting purposes
  • Working with the Support Front Officer in managing overall KYC work load.
  • Over time taking responsibility for accounts initially for secondary market activity

Summary of responsibilities

  • The job holder will be expected to quickly learn the rudiments of the product and market, attending suitable internal and external training events
  • Ensuring they are familiar with all the main markets in which SG operates in the loan space which range from corporate & acquisition financings, LBO, Project and Structured Finance to Emerging Markets
  • Supporting senior colleagues in the daily activities which may range from liaising with investors on primary deals to providing overviews/ research on deals arranged by third party banks which SG is looking to trade. It is noted that the trading desk has some limited analytical capability so typically this would more involve producing summary documents using market specific tools (principally Dealogic), BBG etc.
  • Maintaining the team’s PnL on a global basis. This involves ensuring we are correctly tracking closing of all primary deals and secondary trades and ensuring that correct sales credits are reflected.
  • Building good working relationship with colleagues in both SYN, middle and back office functions and also Sales teams in other locations
