Mission:


The scope of responsibilities given below are indicative and not exhaustive:
Team supervision and management:
• Managing a team of Middle Office staff, with activities ranging from annual objective setting and performance appraisal to daily workload allocation
Along with managing the team, the individual must be able to contribute on his/her own to the MO’s activities and tasks


Transactional management:

  • Receipt and management of physical documents from clients / banks
  • Verification of workability, consistency and completeness of documents
  • Scanning and transmission of documents to back-office for processing
  • Dispatch of original documents to clients / banks
Client liaison:
  • Providing technical expertise to clients on Bank Guarantee text, LC terms and conditions, other documentation
  • Liaising with clients for all advices, discrepancies and required rectifications in documents, release of shipping and other documents, payments, dispatch of documents, collection of charges etc.
Internal liaison:

  • Dealing with internal stakeholders like back office, Treasury, Legal and Compliance for transactions
  • Work with sales team to implement new clients / credit facilities
  • Provide advisory to sales team on trade finance transactions, especially LCs and BGs


Control functions:

  • Ensure compliance and conformity of transactions with bank’s policies and guidelines in close collaboration with the back-office:

            1. KYC on transaction parties (applicants, beneficiaries, banks)
            2. Coherence of transactions with principal activity of each stakeholder
            3. Compliance with Sanction & embargoes rules

  • Managing transactions within credit limits and escalating for necessary approvals
  • Management and safekeeping of legal documents
  • Update of changes to account operation mandates of clients

Profile


Skills Required:


ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university
  • 7-10 years of experience in handling Trade Finance transactions
  • Knowledge of Letters of Credit and Documentary Collections and attendant rules (UCP 600, URC 522)
  • Expertise in Bank Guarantees is a must (URDG 758, ISP 98)

This role is located within the Middle Office of the Trade Finance team of Global Transaction Bank in Singapore. The role is client-facing, as it is the key liaison between client and the back-office of Trade Finance for the client’s transactions.
