Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities and create global Open Source migration factories across various application teams and various infrastructure technology stacks.
  • Define Open Source migration strategies and provide strategic/ tactical direction to establish and run OMFs across the group (through reusable frameworks, tools and standards), working closely with leads across BU/Sus, creating virtual teams.
  • Identify synergies with existing IT programs within the group and leverage the same (e.g.  IT modernization capabilities, IT transformation/digitization like Obsolescence programs etc.)
  • Establish tightly coupled formalized governance with IT teams, migration/modernization programs, virtual execution teams, professional Services, feature teams of the services etc.
  • Influence various IT teams in the group about the viability & cost-effectiveness of open source migration and respective business benefits
  • Own/Control overall migration pipeline, define specific migration plans, delivery architecture and help orchestrate the execution through direct and virtual teams
  • Gather requirements at high level and help virtual teams create technical plan
  • Troubleshooting skills and work closely with operations, support, engineering and/or other functions to ensure successful migrations
  • Develop migration utilities leveraging on Open Source & contribute back to community
  • Conduct migration webinars for interested IT teams (with help of experts in virtual teams) as an offering from OSPO
  • Conduct market research on industry standard practices of industrialized factories and propose effective models time to time
  • Build business cases and PoCs on potential new areas of migration. Challenge the status quo of continuing usage on proprietary products.
  • Build and validate with stakeholders applicable billing models for migration across technology stacks.
  • Build and propose business cases on
    • Migration methodologies : Tool based vis-à-vis manual migration vis-à-vis hybrid
    • Migration models: in house vs vendor vs hybrid
  • Holds additional standard Product Owner responsibilities in agile teams.

Profile required

  • 12+ years of overall experience with experience in product owner/product manager roles
  • Strong experience in systems migration, software delivery, architecture, testing & deployment
  • Expertise in working within agile ecosystem
  • Good knowledge of infrastructure and application ecosystem (including DB, Middleware, App Server, Operating Systems, monitoring, scheduling, VMs, etc.)
  • Experience with public/private/hybrid cloud technology
  • Strong proponent of Open Source philosophy and visible contributions to Open Source
  • Proven track record of global stakeholder management, managing virtual teams, strong governance models being put across distributed global teams
  • Detail oriented self-starter capable of working independently
  • Strong ability to influence without authority and working in a matrix environment
  • Strong articulation and communication skills, with ability to influence senior stakeholders
