HR Accountant

 Quebec - Canada       Permanent contract        Corporate Finance / Accounting


  • Main responsibilities include understanding, calculating accruals and posting to general ledger of:
    • Preparation of Payroll workpapers booking and funding every 2 weeks
    • Monthly reconciliation and analysis of HR accounts and its balances
    • Clearing of Suspense and Internal control accounts for HR payments
    • Monthly charging of foreign employees and settlement of outstanding charges
    • Monthly Reconciliation of HR cash accounts through use of systems like GDS, Montran, ADP, BCT and GLAAM.
    • Complete Monthly process of FX conversion and wire payments for foreign counterparts
    • Accrual and booking of Severance, FICA, Salary and other miscellaneous items
    • Maintaining procedures on tasks performed
  • Provide accounting support/guidance to:
    • Human Resource team in related to the monthly HR tasks to close the books correctly on monthly basis
    • External Auditors with audit requests related to Payroll Review
    • New York Branch, SG Americas Operational Services and SG Americas Securities teams affecting payroll/funding/intercompany HR settlements\
    • Assist in the preparation of Annual Pension and 401k (profit sharing) audit workpapers for our external auditors.
  • Ad hoc reporting and reconciliation requests from management when needed.

  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2+ years of experience in reporting in financial service industry
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills
  • Strong Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills are required. Access skills a plus
  • Self-starter comfortable working alone and with groups
  • Ability to prioritize deliverables and meet time constraints
  • Demonstrated integrity within a professional environment
  • Able to meet strict and short deadlines 
  • Chartered, CPA or MBA designation(s) are pluses but not required
  • Reports to the VP of Legal Entity Controller
