Our internal audit teams are part of the Inspection and Group Audit Division (IGAD) of Societe Generale Group, covering Japan and APAC.
The main assignment of Audit is to assess, as part of an objective, rigorous and impartial approach, the compliance of operations, the actual risk level, the respect of procedures and the efficiency and appropriate character of the permanent control system.
To achieve this, auditors participate in and lead audit assignments covering identified risks areas. They contribute to the continuous monitoring, throughout the year, of the Bank’s activities by leveraging on data analysis, interviews, and investigations. To do so, auditors contribute to the development and testing of data analytic tools within their assignments.
You will be the Data expert within the Audit team in Japan and will contribute to audit assignments by supporting senior auditors. That includes testing hypotheses by investigating on specific and always renewed key banking topics.
Therefore, you should have a passion for data science, but also for critical thinking. You should be able to work independently, with autonomy and to propose ideas. Since you will participate in meetings with Heads of Business activities, you would ideally have good communication skills, allowing you also to work with cross-functional teams and drive change by promoting innovative solutions. Finally, your curiosity will determine the quality of your investigations.
Overall, this traineeship is a great opportunity for you to develop core data skills, interacting with our regional Data Team in Hong-Kong. Furthermore, joining our team will make you gain extensive experience in a variety of business areas within an international investment bank, while participating in exciting investigations.
Under the supervision of senior auditors, the trainee/intern will contribute to the following areas:
- Develop and maintain useful data science/analysis scripts for the audit assignments
- Create visualizations to communicate insights to stakeholders
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions
- Beyond audit assignments, continuously improve and optimize the audit process through automation
- Execute audit missions in accordance with professional standards (which includes the execution of controls/testing and preparation of clear work papers)
- Understand the business across different business lines (which includes participating to various meetings and trainings)
- Support senior auditors and head of audit in reporting tasks, and maintenance of Audit presentations
Profile required
- Bachelor or Master’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics Engineering, or in Finance
- Excellent analytical skills, critical thinking, and creativity
- Proficiency in data analysis, data visualization, and programming languages such as Python or R
- Preferably familiar with big data technologies, such as Hadoop or Spark
- Fluent English
- Good communication skills, positive attitude and adaptation skills interacting with a wide range of staff
- Curiosity, rigor, autonomy, and transparency
- Concise and clear presentation and writing skills
- Knowledge of the audit or banking industry and regulatory requirements is a plus
- Openness in working in a multi-cultural environment
