Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:


Advisory & Origination

- Work with and help manage a pool of Investment Banking analysts to perform financial analysis and corporate finance advisory

- Combine academic and “real world” corporate finance knowledge to form opinions and provide recommendations on acquisition financing / debt structuring / capital structure / capital allocation / debt raising / credit rating matters / valuation

- Coordinate between different teams to structure multiproduct solutions and create cohesive recommendations, including: Industry Coverage, Debt & Equity Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, Credit Ratings Advisory, Loan Syndicate, Equity Derivatives, IR/FX Derivatives, etc.

- Prepare clear and concise bespoke presentation materials 


Transaction Execution

- Lead the development of internal underwriting materials including financial analysis and credit memoranda

- Lead due diligence, including financial, business, industry, and legal

- Understand and take part in the legal documentation process

- Define the risks, mitigants and investment highlights in underwriting or participating in a financing

- Liaise with credit and risk officers, legal and other transaction groups to underwrite the transaction


Profile required

Technical Skills:

• Ability to generate opinions and ideas about how clients should run their businesses

• Strong experience in credit, due diligence, and running internal deal / approval processes

• Experience with credit documentation, including commitment letters, credit agreements and indentures

• Understanding of corporate equity and credit “stories” and priorities of key stakeholders (shareholders, creditors, rating agencies)

• Knowledge of financial accounting concepts and corporate finance valuation

• Financial modeling, including experience building three-statement models, including detailed operating builds and capital structure scenarios, accretion / dilution, etc.

• Understanding credit ratings methodology

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word


Soft Skills

• Resourceful, curious self-starter with interest in both running structured processes efficiently and finding creative solutions to ad hoc challenges

• Team player with strong interpersonal skills

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills 

• Experience training and working with IB analysts in a formal or informal staffer role

Experience Needed:

• Minimum of 6 years of relevant investment banking work experience (eg. in leveraged finance, corporate finance, industry coverage, mergers & acquisitions) 

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a top tier University


Certifications Desired:


Desired / Plus: Series 7/79 and Series 63 certifications

The Advisory & Financing Group underwrites and executes corporate strategic and acquisition financings and provides capital structure recommendations (e.g., financing, capital structure / capital allocation optimization, credit ratings). Our clients are the large corporate clients of the bank (typically S&P 500, across all sectors except Financial Institutions).
