Investment Banking Analyst/Associate - Advisory & Financing Group

Responsibilities

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Advisory & Origination

  • Work alongside a group of investment banking analysts to perform financial analysis and corporate finance advisory in support of senior team members
  • Combine academic and “real world” corporate finance knowledge to form opinions and provide recommendations on acquisition financing / debt structuring / capital structure / capital allocation / debt raising / credit rating matters / valuation
  • Coordinate between different teams to structure multiproduct solutions and create cohesive recommendations, including: Industry Coverage, Debt & Equity Capital Markets, Mergers & Acquisitions, Credit Ratings Advisory, ESG, Loan Syndicate, Equity Derivatives, IR/FX Derivatives, etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of clear and concise bespoke presentation materials

Transaction Execution

  • Play a key role in the development of internal underwriting materials for strategic financing transactions (M&A, spin/split-offs, bridge loans & permanent financing), including financial analysis and credit memoranda
  • Assist senior members in due diligence, including financial, business, industry, and legal
  • Understand and take part in the legal documentation process
  • Assist in defining the transaction risks, mitigants and investment highlights in underwriting or participating in a financing
  • Liaise with credit and risk officers, legal and other transaction groups to underwrite the transaction

Profile required

Technical Skills:                

  • Resourceful and curious self-starter; able to generate opinions and assist in idea generation about how clients should run their businesses
  • Financial modeling, including experience building three-statement models, including detailed operating builds and capital structure scenarios, accretion / dilution, etc.
  • Interest in understanding corporate equity and credit “stories” and priorities of key stakeholders (shareholders, creditors, rating agencies)
  • Knowledge of credit, due diligence, and running internal deal / approval processes
  • Knowledge of financial accounting concepts and corporate finance valuation
  • Understanding of credit documentation, including credit agreements and indentures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

Soft Skills:

  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Experience Needed:      

  • Minimum of 0-2 years of relevant investment banking work experience (in mergers & acquisitions, leveraged finance, corporate finance, industry coverage)

Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from a top tier university
