Responsibilities

Global Banking and Advisory (GLBA) combines a recognized wholesale coverage with world-class product, financing and advisory expertise within one team, enabling us to best support our clients.  GLBA platform is worldwide with expert teams across France and Europe, the CEEMEA region, the Americas and Asia, leveraging local client and regulatory insight within a global GLBA business framework to drive domestic, international and cross-border business, recognising the global nature of our clients

GLBA FIG offers financial institution clients the whole range of services offered by SG CIB and the Group, with a particular focus on investment banking, commercial banking and global markets activities. GLBA FIG  provides tailor-made solutions to, financial institutions including banks, insurance companies, stock exchanges and market infrastructure companies, asset & wealth managers,  pension funds, sovereigns, supra-national institutions, generally financially regulated entities as well as financial sponsor

 As an Investment Banking VIE  in FIG you will work locally with the Spanish FIG team and with the FIG/M&A team based in London or Paris. You will work to support the team for the execution  and also providing support locally on other products and on coverage issues.

The department is a small, hands-on team of 5 people working closely together. Our role is managing the relationship and business that SG has with Iberian financial institutions. To do this, we work closely with all business lines of SG Group, which allows us to have a multi-product approach and a global view of our activity with clients

The VIE carries out a wide variety of tasks:

- Involved in industry and company research, quantitative analysis, company valuation analysis and financial modelling

- Involved in the preparation and pitching of presentations for clients, investors and the broader investment community

- Assistance in the origination and execution of M&A transactions across the Iberian FIG sector

- Help to prepare  client pitches

- Help to prepare cross-product client pitches

- Do company and industry analyses and prepare company and industry profiles

- Help to make valuations using market multiples, M&A multiples and the DCF method

- Help to develop transaction structures / structured solutions

- Keep up to date about M&A, equity and debt related issues

You will work in a challenging environment, within a global team with front-office responsibilities vis-à-vis key clients. You will develop an in-depth understanding of the Spanish and Portuguese banking sector, as well as insurance.

The candidate will receive a very well rounded perspective of the development of global financial services in this position, and will be joining an award winning team in a hard working but friendly atmosphere.

Profile required

PLEASE NOTE that since this program is primarily an international development program, candidates cannot apply to a VIE assignment in their own country of citizenship.

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration (Economics, business, engineering)
  • The position requires a self-confident person who is a self-starter; highly motivated and reliable, with strong team spirit, well organized with good attention to detail
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Exposure to Investment Banking or Corporate Finance experience in M&A / Corporate Finance,  ideally in a leading Investment Bank
  • Fluency in English and Spanish are essential
  • Strong technical / analytical skills plus very good command of MS Office

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Madrid is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 12 months.
The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria, opened to candidates under 28 and from the member states of the European Economic Space. For further information, please see Mon VIE-VIA Business France.

We would like to draw your attention to the fact there that your VIE mission could potentially get postponed, depending on the evolution of the health crisis and subjects to the decision made by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE). In addition, the selected candidate will only be paid upon confirmation from Business France and arrival in the country of assignment.
