Responsibilities

Providing legal advice and assistance to Front Office representatives and other departments of the bank (under the supervision of senior members of the team) for and ensuring the transaction management of matters in relation to:

  • (i) debt instruments issuances (Notes/ warrants) distributed in Asia (ex Japan), 
  • (ii) (as necessary) asset management activities in Asia (ex Japan), including preparation of legal documentation (term sheets, final terms, other offering documents, other marketing materials, distribution agreements etc) relating thereto.

It is an opportunity for a Junior Lawyer to be trained be exposed to structured products in a dynamic financial market environment. The candidate will gain hands-on experience with drafting legal documentation in relation to structured products and exposure to the innovative structures. The candidate will gain a solid understanding of the investment banking setup and acquire valuable interpersonal soft skills

Profile required

• You are graduated with a Master degree in international banking law / international business law. Prior studies in common law subjects preferred.
• Prior experience in investment banking/ financial institutions and/or experience with derivatives or equity/commodity linked products is preferred. 
• Candidate should understand and not be afraid of mathematical formulae.  
• Candidate should be interested in financial products and capital markets
• Display of innovation, team spirit and time management
• Fluent English is mandatory

The VIE assignment in a nutshell
This VIE in Hong Kong is to begin as soon as possible but you need to plan 3 months between your application date and the beginning of your VIE assignment. It will last 24 months.

Department Description

The candidate will be a member of the Debt Securities and Listed Products team with 12 legal staff cover debt instruments issuance, Hong Kong listed warrants issuances, DCM and asset management activities in Asia (ex Japan). He/She will be reporting to the Head of Debt Securities and Listed Products Team, based in Hong Kong.
