Level 2 Regulatory Reporting Controller - Analyst - Junior Associate

The primary responsibilities of this controller include:

Conduct Local & Group regulatory reporting mission review (L2C) covering APAC entities

  • Liaise with relevant parties at the bank regarding control testing (L2C) roadmap that mitigate regulatory risk to tolerable level and explain to relevant parties on the rationale and tasks to be performed
  • Conduct L2C on risky regulatory reporting controls and processes (by means of walkthrough, re-performance and sample testing) to give an opinion on the quality of control design and performance
  • Summarize the L2C findings through proper documentation of the methodology and work done, and prepare draft summary report at a regional view
  • Participate in providing improvement recommendation on any ineffective control and the action plan accordingly
  • Regularly update on regional L2C review roadmap status (by KPI dashboard) & regulatory risk alerts to the team

Assist the managers in the risk assessment for regional regulatory reporting

  • Participate in risk assessment of both local reports produced in Asia Pacific and contribution from Asia Pacific of main group regulatory reporting metrics
  • Involvement in developing and re-engineering existing risk assessment processes through exposure to various key regulatory missions

    Ad hoc projects 
    • Participation in relevant digitalization projects and facilitate the development of analytics tools or model that enable regulatory analysis in relation to large dataset of accounting/regulatory data
    • Liaise with other relevant parties on various regulatory related projects including but not limited to remediation roadmap, target operation models, etc.
    • Actively involve in various regulatory related projects (IRRBB, liquidity etc.) to support the ongoing development of the local and group regulatory reporting requirements

Profile required

  • University graduate in Accounting, Finance or Business school
  • At least 3 years of previous work experience or knowledge in regulatory reporting or regulatory advisory projects or closely related industry experience in internal Audit, Risk or Finance of the financial institution
  • Knowledge of banking and securities regulations in HK is a must (other Asia Pacific regions are advantage)
  • Relevant governance, audit, control, and project experience, specifically in areas of accounting, risk management, and finance in the financial institution
  • Relevant experience in building analytics tools or model that enable regulatory analysis in relation to large dataset of accounting/regulatory data
  • Basic understanding about technical design such as the use of objects, data architecture and data framework and data cleansing methodology
  • Be familiar with some popular trend in machine learning discipline and data technology including but not limited to visualization, big data, cloud data
  • Experience in programming or basic coding including but not limited to VBA, Python, SGL or relevant vendor solution like PowerBI
  • CPA, FRM candidates are preferred
  • Ability to work in transformational project
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written
  • Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
  • Multiple language skills are an advantage

Business insight

Level 2 Control (CTL) team within Finance (DFIN) department acts as ‘Second Line of Defence’ in DFIN which fulfils the Group’s regulator requirement.

This role bases in Hong Kong, regional hub of Asia Pac, which also has a team of CTL with the regional finance team.  The successful candidate exposes to variety of SG business in the region (e.g. corporate & investment banking, brokerage, global transaction banking) and assist the managers on different subjects relating control tests and report digitalization.
