Responsibilities

Description of the Business Line or Department

The Coverage & Investment Banking division is the interface between SG’s strategic clients and the products & services of the Bank.  The coverage team brings together the resources of the Bank and delivers relevant and innovative solutions both to UK clients and local subsidiaries of non-UK SG Strategic clients (in the context of the SG Group’s MNC initiative),

You will run a dedicated portfolio of UK subsidiaries of Multinational Corporates covered by GLBA/COR bankers

based outside of the UK (typically in France and Continental Europe, and excluding Asia and America). To do so, you will work directly with the GLBA/COR Banker in charge of each global client relationship as well as the local coverage team in charge of UK clients when necessary. For this role, you will also report functionally into the Global Head of MNC coverage based in Paris.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Management of the UK MNC portfolio

-    Define and implement the commercial strategy of the Bank towards these UK subsidiaries, in line with the wider strategic objectives of the Group and of SG in the UK.

-    Act as the primary contact for this group of clients

-    Actively market the services offered by the bank across the full product offer

-    Identify and generate cross-selling business opportunities that have significant potential for the organization

-    Understand and anticipate clients’ needs and strategy, and share this knowledge with all relevant business lines in order to direct Clients to appropriate business lines specialists

-    Work in close collaboration with GLBA/COR Bankers in charge of the Parent entities

-    Participation to wider MNC business initiatives

Summary of responsibilities

  • Maintaining active commercial relationships with MNC clients and take responsibility for these relationships
  • Developing the MNC portfolio and growing NBI in line with defined budget
  • Raising awareness within SG UK about MNCs and fostering active collaboration with local business lines
  • Working in close collaboration with PCRUs in charge of MNCs’ Parent entities
  • Retaining responsibility for the monitoring of the risk on the MNC portfolio and therefore managing
  • and controlling credit counterparty risk in liaison with CCG and RISQ as well as ensuring that counterparties are
  • properly internally rated in line with their credit profile.
  • Full involvement in all credit related topics around the MNC portfolio either on regular management of files or discussion of more difficult files (Watch list, …) in line with SG policies, but not limited to, to ensure monitoring of potential regulatory risk, fraud risk, execution errors and possible commercial disputes with his clients or other parties
  • Participation to the production of pitch presentations for client meetings
  • Writing internal memos on client relationships and strategy
  • The position requires a self-confident person who is a self-starter; highly motivated and reliable, with strong team spirit, well organized with good attention to detail. 
  • It will involve working in a fast paced and demanding environment. It requires an individual who has a strong interest and understanding of financial markets and the corporate world, and good commercial acumen
