Responsibilities
Responsibilities
The Third Party Risk Management Office (TPRMO) carefully evaluates all aspects of the relationship with third parties, and more importantly, products and services provided by those third parties, such that they are well understood before finalizing contracts and commencing any outsourcing. While there is great benefit in depending on third parties to leverage expertise and cost efficiencies that may be difficult to produce internally, there is also risk that is inherent in that reliance, and one which if not well managed, can subject us and our customers and shareholders to serious consequences including service deterioration or interruptions, reputational issues, losses and regulatory criticism. In addition, appropriate monitoring and oversight must be applied throughout the lifetime of the outsourcing arrangement in order to ensure that all relevant changes in the supplier, service, product or environment is evaluated and addressed to keep the risk exposure at an appropriate level.
Third Party relationships include activities that involve outsourced products and/or services, outsourced or offshored operations, use of independent consultants, networking arrangements, core services provided by affiliates and subsidiaries, contingent labor, legal counsel and all other business arrangements where the bank has an ongoing relationship or may have responsibility for the associated services. Third party relationships generally do not include customer relationships. The TPRMO scope applies to all third party service provider relationships, products and services where the services or products are provided by an unaffiliated third party or any non-US SG branch or affiliate to any of SG’s US branches, agencies, representative offices or subsidiaries, SG’s Grand Cayman Branch, or any other SG branch, representative office, subsidiary or affiliate in the Americas region, including Canada and Brazil.
