Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities of the Operational Risk Associate in RPM/GRC consist of:

  • Operational events collection (losses, gains, non-financial)
    • Support functional teams and managers in the reporting of their operational events in the central tool (T2eorem).
    • Ensure a post-mortem is performed, with clear root causes and corrective action plans.
    • Monitor the timely execution of action plans and reporting status to senior management.
  • Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA)
    • Advise and assist the GBSU team managers in performing a regular self-assessment of their operational risks, including risk scoping, assessment of inherent risks, control mitigation and residual risks.
    • Work closely with Risk Team members (2nd line of defense) and Audit in responding to challenges of the assessments performed.
    • Ensure action plans are identified for any high/very high residual risks.
  • Control Framework Monitoring
    • Support the GBSU managers in defining and maintaining the overall activity/process/control and risk “blueprints”.
    • Assist and advise GBSU managers in assessing the control framework and design for their area to ensure that relevant controls are implemented to mitigate the main risks.
    • Regularly monitor and analyze the key indicators related to control execution. Review the control anomalies identified by the performer and ensure that they are addressed. 
  • Key risk indicators
    • Regularly assess the risk indicators that are reported by each GBSU perimeter to ensure that they remain relevant and complete.
    • Ensure that these indicators are produced on a timely basis and analyze them at a frequency appropriate to the level of risk.
    • Raise alerts to the management of the perimeter when risk indicators evidence an increase in risks. Suggest action plans to mitigate those risks, 
  • Monitoring and Reporting of Operational Risk-related deliverables
    • Regularly report and follow up on main deliverables for each GBSU line, including action plans related to incidents, self-identified needs for action, 2LOD findings, Audit recommendations, etc.
    • Prepare presentations for the GBSU units’ EXCOs, dedicated to operational risk monitoring, which include the status of deliverables, control execution metrics, operational incident summaries and other relevant information.

Profile required

Technical Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of operational risk framework, including risk assessment and controls design.
  • Intermediate knowledge of post-trade operational and technology processes within a banking environment.
  • Familiarity with audit methodology, demonstrating the ability to structure an approach, formalize  work performed, substantiatiate and justify conclusions.
  • Good knowledge of IT office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
