Description of the Business Line or Department

MARK/BTO teams aim at helping MARK's development and at the same time preventing operational risks.

A global team and a key partner for MARK business lines and activities to enable MARK to do what it does best – serve the needs of its clients in a secured way.

MARK/BTO plays a pivotal role in coordinating with Support and Control functions in Finance, IT, Operations, Risks, Compliance and Legal.

Summary of the key purposes of the role

Main Mission

Enable the EQD business line to monitor and improve its operational risk profile (including driving topics) via:

·       the identification, monitoring, analysis and reporting of these risks

·       the centralisation of these themes on behalf of the business line in front of Management, internal partners, internal / external auditors, and regulators

Summary of responsibilities 

Risk identification and analysis:

•   Application of Group procedures for operational risk analysis. In particular, execution of RCSA (Risk and Control Self Assessment)  on the EQD perimeter, BIA (Business Impact Analysis), risk analysis scenarios as part of the annual RISQ/NFR campaign, and other ad-hoc requests.

•   Identification of operational risk areas through process reviews and ex-post analyses of operational incidents.

•   Proposal and follow-up of action plans adapted to risk reduction (reorganisation, training, procedures, request for specific investments, bug fixes, etc.).

Risk monitoring and reporting:

•   Implementation of appropriate indicators, for EQD management teams and local Management, allowing effective monitoring of operational risks and compliance with internal and external regulations.

•   Monitoring of Permanent Supervision and WATCH/FOX controls quality within EQD business line.

•   Contribution to the quarterly UK Operational Risk and Conduct Committee (OCR)

·       Organisation of the monthly UK EQD SMR committee

•   Effective reporting of incidents to management of business line or EXCO MARK both under a qualitative and quantitative perspective (incident report, post-mortem, distribution and monitoring by SME, by region, loss / NBI ratios, etc.)

Facilitation and controls:

•   Critical analysis of all certifications and processes related to the Front Office Supervision, run by SG ATS or ORM central teams in Paris (desk and individual mandates, sales/trading handbooks, E-learnings, regulatory certificates, trading limits, ….)

Representation and cooperation:

•   Participating to and representing EQD in committees related to non-financial risks (normative committees, control framework, ...).

•   Ensuring the link and coordination of EQD as Line of Defense 1 (LOD1) with Central ORM teams and Lines of Defense 2 (RISQ/NFR, CPLE, DFIN) and 3 (IGAD) as well as with external auditors / regulators.

•   representing EQD on transversal programs with a component on non-financial risks

Profile required


Technical Skills:

ü Excellent technical knowledge on the perimeter covered (products, processes, information systems, risks, functions)

ü Excellent knowledge of the operational risk environment (regulations, processes). Risk management skills.

ü Familiarity with audit methodology (ability to structure an approach, formalization of work done, substantiation and justification of conclusions, ability to perform substantive tests when necessary)

ü Good knowledge of usual IT tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
