Responsibilities

Base Salary Range: $87,000 - $175,000
Base salary range does not include overtime pay, bonus and/or other benefits, where applicable. Actual base salary offer will vary based on skills and experience.

Delinquency and Portfolio Risk Management

Achieve established Delinquency, Cost of Risk and Late Charge Collection targets by:

  • Coaching, training and leading staff to understand Back Office and SGEF-US strategies, objectives and KPIs, and to execute collection tasks in a timely and reliable manner
  • Leveraging available tools and internal support resources
  • Driving the consistent adherence to established collections procedures and policies
  • Coordinating and facilitating portfolio review meetings (Watch List, Doubtful, Mid-Month Delinquency Reviews, and 1-1 Delinquency reviews with Portfolio Managers)
  • Managing and, where needed, developing additional delinquency tracking and reporting tools in support of all collections and portfolio risk management activity
  • Participate in all audit activities as needed
  • Ensure that collection procedures are continuously reviewed, updated, refined and documented, and are communicated to staff
  • Monitor and manage compliance with New Definition of Default (NDOD) standards
  • Ensure the utilization of a risk-based Collections Activity Strategy to drive a common and consistent approach by Portfolio Managers in managing their assigned accounts
  • Review and leverage existing system functionality to ensure maximum collections efficiency and effectiveness
  • Drive an overarching philosophy and approach of proactiveness and ownership of Customer relationships
  • Ensure full compliance by Collectors of the requirement to document all collection-related activity
  • Train/coach staff on any process or policy changes as needed

Vendor Relationship Management

Manage and grow operational relationships with key vendors by:

  • Organizing regular vendor calls to discuss portfolio performance, delinquency results, and problem accounts
  • Creating a collaborative, partner-minded working relationship
  • Participating in gathering Vendor/Customer feedback, evaluating results, and using key findings to

 drive process/system improvement initiatives and training/coaching activities

  • Communicating and partnering with Vendors to ensure an ongoing understanding of their service and support requirements of SGEF

Performance Management and Professional Development of Staff

  • Regularly provided feedback, training and coaching to Team members on performance relative to their objectives, and equip them with the skills and knowledge necessary to be successful in their roles
  • Ensure that the overall skill sets of the Portfolio Management Team correlate to the requirements for supporting delinquency and risk management objectives, and are able to meet the specific needs of our Vendors and Customers
  • Provide the necessary tools and guidance to enable members of the Portfolio Management Team to grow and develop their professional competencies
  • Work with each Portfolio Manager to formulate a personal development plan as well as a long-term vision for their career path
  • Assist in the regular review and formulation of recognition plans to help incent best-in-class performance and drive Portfolio Managers’ perception of SGEF as being a great place to work

Partner and Collaborate with internal teams to ensure a best-in-class Customer Experience with SGEF

  • Partner and collaborate with all other business functions (Sales, Booking, Transaction Support, Risk Management, Credit, Finance) to support the effective overall management of the portfolio
  • Assist and engage with members of the Finance Team to review/resolve accounting entries, audit activities, and book close
  • Facilitate open and fluid communication on account-specific issues with the Booking Team, Sales, Finance and other teams/internal partners as required
  • Ensure all Customer inquiries and issues are handled in a timely and efficient manner, with a “Customer First” mindset; organize thoughts and actions based on the needs and requirements of the Customer
  • Clearly communicate information and expectations to Customers/Vendors and internal partners; keep commitments made for actions to investigate and resolve issues
  • Collaborate with the Transaction Support Team on tasks related to cash application, account reconciliations, invoicing, rebooking and other activities as required
  • Continuously assess the Portfolio Management processes for effectiveness and efficiency, and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with other functional team managers (Sales, Front-Office/Booking, Finance) to gain insight and feedback on procedures impacting the Customer/Vendor experience with SGEF
  • Participate in broader SGEF-US strategic initiatives aimed at reviewing processes and identifying gaps/pain points and developing solutions
  • Participate in review(s) of system/technology capabilities, providing insight and ideas for improvement
  • Help drive and implement process and system changes as they are identified

Profile required

Technical Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the leasing and commercial finance industry
  • Thorough understanding of lease/loan structures, documentation and financing product types
  • Experience with lease/loan pricing, negotiations, and bad-debt workouts
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office suite of tools, in particular Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Exposure to and/or experience with LeaseWorks and Salesforce strongly desired
  • Able to manage and prioritize multiple priorities with speed and agility

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years in leasing and/or commercial lending; background in Vendor Finance strongly preferred
  • 5+ years in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Understanding of lease/finance accounting principles
  • Solid knowledge of leasing/loan concepts such as amortization, accruals, deferrals and account reconciliations
  • Process management & improvement experience strongly desired
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with knowledge of compliance and audit support activities is a plus

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree desired

  • English (required)
  • Spanish is a plus

The SGEF Back Office Team is currently organized with two sub-teams: Portfolio Management and Transaction Support.  The Portfolio Manager Leader position will report to the VP Back Office, and is an integral part managing SGEF’s overall Vendor and Customer relationships, including any tasks and activities related to the timely, accurate handling of all Customer/Vendor related inquiries and the effective management of collection activities of any past due balances.
