Responsibilities

Summary of the key purposes of the role

The purpose of the Private Client Director role is to proactively forge and enhance relationships with the most sophisticated and valued clients; to be an ambassador within Fiduciary and across the wider business; and to have responsibility for the revenue budget, management, development and training needs, and appraisals

Key Responsibilities

Trust Management:

  • Actively develop and maintain relationships with demanding, complex and/or ultra-high net worth clients, intermediaries and internal contacts in order to provide a quality service and provide best possible client offering and maximise returns to Kleinwort Hambros as a whole;

  • Promote the highest quality of trust and company administration in order to minimise business risk and to encourage a culture of compliance with policies, appropriate risk management, and the principle of treating customers fairly;

  • Meet financial and non-financial targets as agreed with the Team Leader in order to maintain a sustainable fiduciary business;

  • Act as a technician and expert point of reference for the team and to support the development of team members;

  • Act as individual director of client companies where necessary;

  • Conduct appraisal interviews and agree personal development plans;

  • Conduct interviews and recruitment of personnel;

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of your personal fiduciary responsibility in order to protect the client, yourself, the team and the business;

  • To encourage a culture of upholding the Kleinwort Hambros values and act as a role model to the team;

    Business Requirements:

  • Contribute and achieve personal and team targets reviewing at monthly intervals throughout the year with Team Leader

    Teamwork:

  • Work within team to help identify areas for improvement;

  • Support team and act as back up where required;

  • To contribute to the strategic direction of Fiduciary Services. To instil within the team the importance of meeting financial and non-financial targets that have been agreed by the business and achieving Kleinwort Hambros’ goals and objectives.

    Business/Market Knowledge:

  • Develop and sustain a broad technical knowledge across products and services of the Bank to ensure business is supported; 

  • Update personal knowledge of intermediary/wealth management market, ensuring that the reputation of Kleinwort Benson is upheld to the highest level possible in terms of compliance and reputation internally and externally and to give continuous consideration to treating customers fairly.

Internal Control:

  • Attend client meetings as required and maintain full, accurate files/notes of all meetings/calls/conversations using KH systems to store


Profile Required

Competencies and Work Experience

  • Good understanding of the relevant laws of the local jurisdiction

  • In-depth knowledge of the duties and responsibilities of a Fiduciary

  • Command of industry best practice in relation to Trust and Company administration

  • Track record of supervisory or management role

  • Attention to detail and accuracy

  • Ability to deal with conflicting demands under pressure

  • Ability to demonstrate effective communication skills

Education

Required:

A minimum of ten years relevant trust and company experience in a Senior position

Meet principle person requirements of local trust company regulator

Associate of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries & Administrators or Diploma in Offshore Finance & Administration;

Or STEP Diploma in Offshore Trust Management;

Or Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers/IFS;

Or STEP Diploma for England and Wales (Trusts and Estates)

Desirable:

ICSA/ACCA/ACA
