Responsibilities

Objectives of the Role:

  • Working as part of the Operations Regulatory Reporting Production Team in SG Tokyo you will be responsible for the production, investigation, correction as well as managing and correcting report rejected by the Japanese regulators validation systems. In addition there will be other reporting requirements that will be moving to the team to manage.
  • You will be working to tight deadlines as agreed with the national regulators so attention to detail and best practice improvements for exceptions clearance is a key element of the role.
  • You will also develop expertise in analysis of data to identify and remediate particular issues when they arise as part of the business-as-usual process to help with the investigation of issues, root-cause analysis, as well as involvement in any user testing and post production testing as required and ensuring the completeness and accuracy of any data to be back-reported.
  • We closely work with equivalent Operations Regulatory reporting team regionally and globally. There is also a large amount of change both within the organization and within the wider regulatory environment – regulatory reforms, transformation plan, new business initiatives. These changes will require integration into the current set-up and we will be working closely with the Change Project teams to achieve this.
  • The role is based in Operations; however, interrogation of the data will involve working closely with FO, IT, Compliance, other areas of Operations and the business.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support management strategy and decision
  • Develop expert knowledge in regulatory requirements, processes and systems for Japanese Reporting, and other areas of non-financial regulatory reporting.
  • Carry out daily production processes in order to meet  Societe Generale reporting obligations in Japan
  • Closely monitor reporting exceptions and co-ordination with the relevant teams to ensure that they are addressed on a daily basis.
  • Review and investigate any regulator rejections and exceptions as required.
  • Build relationships within the team, with IT, other upstream Operations teams, Compliance, PMO, Front Office and other areas of Societe Generale.  
  • Prioritize, investigate and remediate issues and develop control improvements - working closely with the Operational Risk Manager, Production and IT, liaising with upstream parties where required.
  • Identify improvements in BAU control processes and enhancements to technology infrastructure, monitor remediation action plans and co-ordinate any Regulatory Reporting related project work.
  • Involvement in the longer term strategic development of the transaction reporting and related systems.
  • Involvement in change affecting the existing process, whether internal such as systems, business models, new products) or external (such as market or regulatory changes) as well as new regulatory reporting obligations  
  • Be flexible in contributing to other activities in the team when necessary, for example analysis required for queries received from the Regulator.  
  • Responsibility for ensuring that you are fully aware of and adhere to internal Policies that relate to you, your business or other businesses for which you have any level of responsibility. It is your responsibility to ensure compliance with operational risk requirements (e.g. Golden rules, security policies and regulatory requirements).
  • Responsibility for monitoring, controlling, preparing and escalating risk within the scope of your position.
  • Responsibility for reading, understanding and complying with the Company’s Conduct and Standards and corresponding regulations. You will be notified of changes to policies in a timely manner through announcements and/or intranet updates.

  • Observe proper standards of market conduct. Responsibility to ensure that you take reasonable steps to be fully aware of, understand and comply with all regulatory requirements from all regulatory bodies that are applicable to your business.

Profile required

  • Good banking experience including understanding of financial markets, cash and derivatives (Listed and OTC products), Equities, Securities, currencies , trading, clearing from Operations background  
  • Good understanding of the Japanese regulatory environment, with emphasis on regulatory reporting
  • Details oriented and mind set to investigate, work independently
  • Experience in the technical domain, data analysis and tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Being comfortable handling and analyzing large and complex dataset is critical for success in this role.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, organizational and communications skills
  • Flexibility and ability to learn quickly
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written, to include strong procedure and writing skills both in Japanese and English
